Callof Duty 4 - crack or super crack?

Is anyone else playing this on XboxLive?

I've never been a fan of the first person shooters, I'm more of an EA sports kinda guy. But this game I have to say is one of the best I've ever played. The online play is fun as hell, whether you're doing domination, headquarters or free for all, etc. You'd think you'd get sick of the game maps, but I keep on finding new spots to snipe people from, and the more you get to know the maps the funner they are to play. Also, I can kill communists. What's not to like about that? The guns are awesome, as are the perks (martyrdom is the best) and the grenades. I don't see myself ever getting sick of this game, at least until COD 5 comes out. Oh yeah and my record is 102 kills on the Shipment level doing Headquarters.

Basically I've put in 3 days and 15 hours, according to the statistics, and I anticipate putting much more time in. My girlfriend is a patient woman, and I am blessed to have her.

So is anyone else here playing?

I've been playing a lot of Halo 3, but I am considering trading it towards COD4. I'll never play the Halo 3 campaign again, but I play the shit out of the MP. But I don't really see a point in having two MP-centric shooters, so Halo 3 will have to go for COD4.

I'm still not sick of Halo 3 but I may soon give COD4 a shot. I played it Live over at my buddy's place and it was pretty damn sweet. I'm too much of a Halo junkie to get into a new game online just yet, though.

Yeah its a fun game, i just made prestige mode where you have to do it all again.

As for COD5 i would give it a miss, Treyarch will be making it and its back to WWII just like their COD 3.

Sooooo what does that mean.....I know that the prior COD's were WW2 (haven't played them though), and that Treyarch is a gaming developer. Did the other ones suck? Will it have multiplayer XboxLive?

It'd be kind of shitty going to old weapons after using the new kick ass ones I'd imagine...

This game is SUPERcrack to me. I can't get enough of it, but I don't get to devote that much time to it either. Recently I've been playing the PS3 version trying to build my stats up there so I can play with my PS3 friends. But I've also play the XBL version too.

As far as martydom is concerned, I admit I use it, but honestly it's really kind of pain in the ass. In fact, I think the grenades are the one thing that is overdone in this game. I get killed too many time by somebody just randomly tossing grenades up in the air. That's just not fun.

But grenades notwithstanding, this is an AWESOME game.

Since you play a lot of Halo online, just a friendly word of advice. Unlike Halo when you get within a few feet of someone, you can't just charge in and melee them. You will die. I had the hardest time making that adjustment when switching from Halo to COD4. That's not to say the melee (knife) doesn't work, it just means that if someone is shooting you, you will die before you can reach them to melee them.

Well COD2 was great but COD3 (made by Treyarch) kinda sucked.
Each year the COD series changes hands and the better ones are always made by Infinity Ward.

COD 3 was just a mess and had about as much bugs and glitches as you could ever want in a game, nothing beats hiding behind big rocks and hiding in deep ditches only for the AI bullets to ignore both and kill you on a regular basis, and dont start me on the continually spawning enemy.

Well, looks like if they suck as bad as they do, my goal of going all the way in prestige mode may be realized. I'm currently in the second prestige level at 40. Time to put some elbow grease in and giver.

Martyrdom sucks--where's the realism in having a guy poop out a grenade when he dies if he doesn't actually have any in his inventory? Last stand is where it's at.

My suggestion to improve martyrdom is to only have it be triggered when you're actually still holding a frag grenade when you die. If you don't have one, no martyr for you.

Grenade spam sucks, even though I'm guilty of it myself...particularly on Shipment. The 3 frags perk needs to go away, period.

I'm taking a break from the game trying to get through my game backlog (PGR4, baby!), but when I play it's usually domination. I used to play sabotage until the hardcore kill farmers decided to use that mode to get kills...WTF is up with kill farming anyway, is your penis that small that you need to ruin a game by boosting a meaningless stat?

COD4 single player was not perfect, respawning enemies were a bitch on veteran. Also a cover system and fire like ghost recon would of set it apart from IF last game controls

Its so the publishers can release a call of duty game each year, they don't care if Treyarch's is below average/average as it sells

I actually haven't played it online yet. I finished the single player campaign a while ago, I just haven't gotten around to MP. I will eventually though.
