Call of Duty: Black Ops 3...a precusor to the Eugenics War?

Here is the the teaser trailer to the game...

Now, I can imagine that in the Star Trek timeline, technology had advanced significantly to the point that, for example, the people of the 1960s had access to the equivalent of 21st century technology. In fact, given the fact that Bell Telephone was on the verge of creating the Internet with its "PicturePhone", I can imagine other technological concepts being successfully developed to the point of being marketed to the masses...

I am also reminded of this old PSA, " The Home of the Future: 1999 AD", and its depiction of the future, from the vantage point of the 1960s...

Anyway, I do wonder this: I know that biological enhancements were outlawed because of the Augments, but why would artificial intelligence, advanced robotics, bionics and cybernetics not fall under a similar prohibition? Do you think that normal humans, in an effort to combat the Augments, decided to become cyborgs in the process, during the war? Also, do you think having a virtual war machine intact, in after the Eugenics War, would set the stage for the human supremest movement (vis-a-vis Col. Green) and World War III?

If there is a similar thread to this one, apologies in advance.

The Germans had a "picture phone" in the 1930's, it suffered many of the same problem in that it was very expensive and cutting edge (ie didn't always work). And with the German system you had to go to a limited number of locations to use it.

How the "supermen" were defeated I think was something like how the German Luftwaffe was defeated. The German put into the sky's of Europe technologically superior aircraft, very advanced, but they were limited in the numbers they could build. The allies filled the air with mass production conventional aircraft, and they won the air war (plus they bombed the shit out of Germany).

The supermen were superior in many ways, but they were relatively few in numbers and were defeated by large numbers of average regular people who had had enough of their presence.

No cyborgs, just people.

:)

A picturephone is not anything like the internet any more than a BBS running on a Commodore 64 was one. :)

It takes place in 2065, two years after First Contact.

And you know, Treyarch studios and Call of Duty have nothing to do with Star Trek at all.

If you want to discuss the game, go to my thread on it, if you want to talk Trek, talk about the war, but these two have nothing to do with each other.

The purpose of the thread is the idea of 'weaponized' people, using the game as the starting point when discussing the conflicts pre-First Contact Era. My question is whether or not, in the face of the threat poised by the Augments, did humans turn towards cybernetics and military grade robotics to combat the threat. That's why I posted here, and the apologize if such a discussion did occur on this board.

Sorry that you did not understand that.

Obviously they didn't, or they'd have made a point of that somewhere along the way.

Nothing on screen or in the books written sine have implied anything other than typical soldiers.

And since the Eugenics Wars ended in 1996, and I don't see cyborgs out there, gotta say no.

military grade robotics
The story line of Trek does say that Humanity advanced faster toward the end of the 20th century than what actually occurred.

So it wouldn't be out of the question that the eugenic wars in the mid 1990's would have been fought with weapons more technologically developed than what we have now. And we likely will have " military grade robotics" in a decade or so.

Many people consider the present generation airborne drones to be just that.

:)

True, but I doubt the creators of the 'Trek franchise, circa TOS, were precognitive enough to see the trends in STEM development to the point that cyborg soldiers were indeed possible.

There's the soldier from Earth's history in Encounter at Farpoint. I'd have to review the sequence, but he could possibly be a cyborg.

:)

^ Those soldiers weren't cyborgs, however their armor includes a built-in weapon attached to the right arm sleeve.

And in an abandoned plot line from ENT, we would have found out that those were Colonel Green's troops (the logo the soldiers wear on their helmets is Green's).

Yup, CoD: BO3 features soldiers with up to 40% synthesis embedded through them, at levels of technology they show being around in 2065, vast improvements over the 2046 "Exo's" from Advanced Warfare.

Complete augmentation of the tissues, grafted directly to the central nervous system, bones, etc with some weapons having the ammo or power cells near or in the internal organs/cavities apparently.

Oh, and the large army of robots you have to fight in the campaign and multiplayer. No idea if the cloaking technology makes a return or not as yet.
