Buy this TREK toy?

I have a great concept; well I think I like it at least, for a STAR TREK toy-line. In essence; build your own ships.

Some company puts out a box of parts. They come in difference sections. Different sizes and shaped saucer sections, nacelles, whatever. But they come interchangeable with the different parts. So you could make your own interesting combinations of ships, or, just make the ones that are canon.

I am 50yrs old, and I would BUY this in a heart beat. Not just for me, but for my five year old son who loves to build things.

BUT ABSOLUTELY NO MODEL BUILDING..no need for glue. This way you can take them apart and do other things with them..

You could release a Federation, Klingon, Romulan sets. But they can all be mixed and matched. Yeah…I know…you think it is silly. But I think it would sell.

I should have said this at first. NO model building needed. They just snap together. So no glue, or anything like that. Ships would be no bigger than maybe 16 inches, if that.

The PC game? I had that for a Xmas present years ago, and it did indeed suck. I ended up changing it for something else because it got boring really quickly.

A software version would be cool...but kids, or heck, even I like to build things with my hands...So they could do both versions..

My son and I tried playing it but gave up. Creating starships was pretty cool but somewhat limited, and I liked being able to create your own crew. A file included the cast from TNG, DS9, and VOY and the uniforms from all of the shows. We were even able to import photos of ourselves. We made us crew members and created our own backgrounds. The game part was boring so we amused ourselves creating ships and crews. That didn't last very long...

Yes, we all had legos. But these 'segments' would look like the actual parts, not squared things with zillions of parts...

2 nacelles
2 struts
a lower section that you can branch off of.

In fact, more like CONNECXX than Legos...but with parts that actually look like someing...I mean, how many saucer sectons on TREK are...square?

Anyway, yeah, I got it...I was just joking. Your idea does seem pretty cool. But I'd rather build existing ships, personally.

Lego's would be really great for a Borg cube, though.
