At Sam's request, Michael helps a waitress named Sophia who is being stalked by a cartel soldier.

Hmm. Somewhere between average and above average. There's not much movement on the overall plot, but since it's only the second episode, I wouldn't expect there to be. The "job" with Sophia wasn't horribly exciting, but I was expecting a certain outcome that didn't happen, so that was pleasing. The bit about the coffee maker was a bit creepy, and I like seeing him get mad. Things get interesting when he's mad. So I guess I'll give it an 'above average.'

For me, the best part was Mom and Michael in therapy.
"So, Mom, why don't you communicate about that?"

They still need to show more Bruce, though. ;)

I liked the "rent-a-spy" kind of angle of the first season. Sort of like the A-Team, where if you had a problem, and you knew where to find him, you could hire, him.

Though it wasn't exactly the same, it was nice to see something like that this episode, instead of the job being thrusted onto him like last week by Carla. I'd rather see him do jobs for the people of Miami than for some shady woman.

Oh and the more I think about it, the more I'm suspecting that Carla is not related to whoever burned Michael, but rather someone who is taking advantage of Michael's situation.

I fully expect him to find out he's been working for the wrong side and that Carla's really evil.

Oh and that James Callis is the one who is telling her what to do. :p

I was conflicted about the poll. For "Burn Notice," this epi was only average. Compared to most TV, though, it's certainly above average.

I can't help but think what an interesting reflection the show is on current attitudes towards government. Every higher ranking spook or handler Michael has dealt with has been either a callous bureaucrat or outright evil, Carla apparently included. The message seems to be that the clandestine ops system is completely corrupt.

And, you know, I'm not so sure that isn't the case. :(

I voted average but it had some very good bits. I love all the scenes between Michael and Carla. Is it just me or is there definitely sexual undertones between the two? Carla seems to flirt with Michael while at the same time threatening his life. And the therapy session was brilliant. I really liked the character moment when Michael and his mom talk and she says something to the effect of "I didn't think you wanted me to ask you about it.". The expression on Raul's face when Sophia walked in to his interrogation room as a DEA agent was priceless.

So, who would win between Michael Weston and James Bond?

Exactly. It wasn't amazing by its own standards but it was entertaining for all the reasons I tune into the show for.

I must say I'm also enjoying Tricia Helfer's stint. She does a great job in the role and plays well with Jeffrey Donovan.
