That said, I found the whole thing rather boring, with little to no detail on the actual restoration of the helm console or Enterprise model (basically the equvalent of a "before" and "after").

Santa Claus brought me the DVD for Christmas this year. Not at all what I was expecting when I asked for it, but not boring.
If you're expecting something like a box set extra or one of the fanmade crowdfunded docus, then I understand how it could feel disappointing. It feels like a documentary made for the curious non-diehard, so it's perhaps lacking in the detail some of us deep fans would expect, but I don't think it's boring. It's quite nice to see how Trek appears, as a cultural phenomenon, when you're at the edge of it.
