Buffy ep by ep; rewatch and reviews

Thanks for the reviews, saturn. Can't believe its all over now :( It's been fun rewatching the eps, and seeing your opinions on them. What a brilliant show. We will not see its like ever again. I'm sad its all finished (again!) It was sad enough the first time they aired. I nearly cried when Chosen aired. All these great characters, all these great memories, gone, never to be seen again (onscreen at least)

It's been fun :(

Thanks you're too kind and it's been my pleasure. And it's not the end, lives forever on DVD and join me over on the Angel thread for season 5.
Yeah, the amulet is a little too convenient but hey, after all they've been through I think the Scoobs deserve a little luck. And it's a neat metaphor for evil fighting itself and an easy way to get Spike to LA

One thing I truly hated about Chosen was Anya's death. Wham bam, blink and you miss it. And Xander's reaction? A sad smile and a "that's my girl."

:cardie:!!!!!

She deserved a little more than that after all these years. More screen time for the death scene, and a better reaction from the man who loved her.

Agreed. I thought between that death/lack of reaction and the whole Xander/Anya breaking up in Season 6 were two of the lamest decisions I've seen on any of Joss's shows.

His commentary states that there's not enough drama for couples that are happy together, but I think that's just an excuse for lazy writing. It's possible to make a married couple interesting and out of all of the couples on the show to meet with failure and disappointment, Xander and Anya should have been the one's to survive till the end.

And, if they had, imagine how much more powerful her death would have been if they were married and happy with each other. Obviously the show (and episode) is not perfect, but this seemed like it could have easily been avoided.

The other problem I had with this episode is that Buffy can barely take down one uber-vamp earlier in the year and by the time everyone get's their powers, just about anyone can take them down....lame and lazy writing again.

A complaint which Joss specifically responds in his commentary on the episode by saying, "Don't tell everyone!"

I always figured that the first Turok-Han was their ultimate champion and by the time of Chosen they were down to their second eleven?

It is such a shame we'll never see these guys on screen again. When Buffy got axed, I was sad, but still hopeful that the 'verse would continue. After all, we still had Angel to keep the universe alive. But, alas, a year later, and that was gone, too. Even then, there were always rumours of miniseries, movies, etc.

It clearly looks like the time for that has passed, now, though. It's been six years since Angel left the air, and seven for Buffy (Egad, has that much time passed already? :( ) We may get a surprise reunion movie, years after the fact, one day (ala The X Files: I Want To Believe...um...maybe not), but its likely we'll only see these guys in comics from now on.

As for the non-Joss Buffy remake coming our way....ugh. I won't support that.

Hasn't Sarah said she doesn't want to do anything Buffy any more?

In interviews and discussions, it always seemed to me that she considered the show just a good job, and she's moved on to other jobs.

she's moved on to other jobs.

I can understand that. I would love to see a "what are they doing now", though, all the same.

I don't think Buffy was axed, SMG and Joss just decided it was time to end it. Angel WAS axed! It was good for another season at least

I think SMG's biggest project right now is mother to her daughter Charlotte Grace. I don't think they'll ever go back to the roles, I mean SMG played Buffy for 146 eps, the equivalent of 55 full length films

And no, Buffy without Joss would be a shameless cash in on all this Twilight hysteria
