Bryan Singer has had official talks about possibly doing another X-Men

Seems Jackson Archer and a few others might get their wish. It's at least been discussed outside fan circles now.

Singer has talked to Fox about coming back to X-Men.
During South Korea's Pusan International Film Festival, Bryan Singer confirmed he's interested in returning to the "X-Men" film franchise and has discussed the possibility with 20th Century Fox says The Associated Press.
The American director didn't go into details if this interest was a fourth general "X-Men" film or a spin-off, but did say Hugh Jackman and the other cast members whom he worked with on the first two films were a big part of the appeal.
Singer helmed both "X-Men" and "X2: X-Men United," but passed on the third installment so he could make "Superman Returns." Brett Ratner ("Rush Hour") directed the third and Gavin Hood ("Tsotsi") directed this year's spin-off feature "Wolverine".

If it happens I'd like an X-Men 4 regardless if it acknowledges too much or any of X3. Although I find that movie mixed in places I'll take an X4 whose only link is that Beast is more prominant along with an iced up Iceman and more prominant Colossus.

Re: Bryan Singer has had official talks about possibly doing another X

Sounds like a good idea. The first two X-movies were very well done, and X2 has gotta to be a contender for best superhero movie ever.

Re: Bryan Singer has had official talks about possibly doing another X

To be honest I'm not really sure what new ground another X-Men movie could cover. Thematically, I think the first two already did everything they could with the idea, and I'm not really interested in just watching a new batch of heroes and villains battle it out for no reason.

I'd rather see some new characters explored on screen instead.

Re: Bryan Singer has had official talks about possibly doing another X

I thought that "X3" was awful and that Singer never should have left to do that boring "Superman Returns" film. I want Singer to come back and fix the X-Men franchise, tell the story in X4 by reviving the Phoenix as a cosmic being like she was always meant to be, bring back Cyclops to have his love story with her, do a movie in space, give Wolverine a more mature roll, and hopefully add some much needed color to the series. I would also like to see "Fatal Attractions" done in theater, see the character Apocalypse get a X-Men movie even "The Age of Apocalypse" done as a two-parter with the introduction of Xaviers son David Holler. There is a ton of story that can be explored by Singer who knows how to interpret X-Men correctly:vulcan:.

Re: Bryan Singer has had official talks about possibly doing another X

I've posted this idea before in another thread, but if Singer were to come back why not call his movie X3? :)

Re: Bryan Singer has had official talks about possibly doing another X

It would be interesting to see if he could continue from where X3 left off and still manage to make it a good story. That movie messed things up so much by killing off an absurd number of characters.

Re: Bryan Singer has had official talks about possibly doing another X

I liked X-3. Kewl flick!

Two thumbs up!:bolian::bolian:

I liked it better than Superman Returns...so whatchoo say bout that? LOL!!!

I say that your opinion is rendered meaningless by use of the word "kewl."

Re: Bryan Singer has had official talks about possibly doing another X

The reason I didn't like X3 was because their was no character development, or growth, Phoenix was just a maniac when originally Phoenix was supposed to be Jean Grey gaining great power saving the universe then going through temptation, falling into darkness, becoming a monster who craved to re-experience the ecstasy of having been in the M'Kraan crystal, losing control of herself, and eventually sacrificing herself to save her loved ones from herself.

X3 had no character arks just a lot of random dieing without purpose or resolution. Cyclops was forgotten, Rogue was forgotten, Phoenix was one-dimensional as opposed to three-dimensional in the books, Juggernaut was disappointing to say the least, Xavier's death was pointless when it should have come at the end of the film hopefully ending Phoenix's onslaught, all-in-all X3 was terrible and untrue to the books!:brickwall:

Re: Bryan Singer has had official talks about possibly doing another X

I can't believe Jackson Archer wasn't the first person to post this thread!

Anyway, on topic, this has got to be good for the series. I mean, neither of the two X-Men (related) movies made since he departed have been as good as the two he made.

I also hope it's an X4, rather than another prequel or spin-off. For all the events of X3 and the silly efforts to wrap up as a trilogy a comic series that has lasted almost 50 years, there's plenty of life left in those characters and plenty more tales to tell.

And I'd far rather see Singer make this than the proposed BSG movie.

Amen!

(Although I wouldn't complain if Singer did that LOGAN'S RUN remake he was talking about a few years back.)

Re: Bryan Singer has had official talks about possibly doing another X

Meh. I liked X-Men: The Last Stand and while I like X2, I think it is vastly over-rated. The first X-Men was pretty bad, though.

Re: Bryan Singer has had official talks about possibly doing another X

BSG is best left on Sy-FY in its episodic format. They would do the series a severe mis-justice if they did it in a two hour film format. Besides I thought they rapped up the series already?

Re: Bryan Singer has had official talks about possibly doing another X

The thing that impresses me about Singer's X-films is the way they handle huge casts of comic book characters without turning into incoherent messes, unlike all those other superhero movies that fall apart the minute they start cramming too many characters in the films. That takes a great deal of directorial dexterity and control . . . .

I'd far rather see Singer do his BSG movie. Not that I have any real interest in yet another version of this franchise being promulgated, but damn it, I want to see more space opera on the big screen and I'll take what I can get. The fourth installment in a franchise I never liked is less appealling.

Bryan Singer has wanted to do a BSG project since before Moore's BSG was a twinkle in his eye. Any Singer BSG film probably would be a remake of the original series.

Re: Bryan Singer has had official talks about possibly doing another X

While it was definitely a step down from X2, I don't think X3 deserves the trashing it gets from fans.

I think it works rather well on it's own terms, and is MUCH more solidly directed and written than, say, the Fantastic Four movies. X3 may have been a bit one-dimensional, but at least it wasn't as painfully cheesy and cartoonish as those.

I'd also much rather watch X3 than those two dull Hulk movies.

Yeah, this. I know that's not going to be made, but my dream would be for Singer to ignore The Last Stand, go back to the end of X2 and re-do the Phoenix saga. I don't need it to be space-opera (which would be stylistically out of tune with Singer "real life" approach), but I want it done well.

On the other hand, I quite liked Superman Returns, both aesthetically and thematically.

Exactly, Dave!! :bolian:
