Brutal Disney Endings

The title about says it all. I was discussing this with my kids. Most of the Disney classic cartoons had villains who lost in the end. Which Disney villain met with the most brutal, potentially painful, bloody ending?

Snow White's wicked witch fell off of a cliff, then had a boulder drop on her.

Ursela, from Little Mermaid was impaled by the broken, splintery mast of a ship.

Scar from the Lion King was eaten alive by hyenas. Ouch!

What do you think?

Gaston, from "Beauty and the Beast," fell to his death. Deserved it, though.

Old Yeller.

what about the end of the artistocats, when the cats force the evil butler to swallow petrol before lighting him up.

Snow White's wicked witch fell off of a cliff, then had a boulder drop on her.

Wyle E. Coyote had that happen many times. Never stopped him.

But you're right, Disney does have some violent content when it comes to their villains.

How about live-action Disney? The Black Hole actually showed the villain, trapped in the body of a robot, end up in hell!

And I keep laughing whenever I consider the irony...the actor, Maximilian Schell, playing a character who is trapped...in Maximilian's shell. :guffaw:

Disney seems to do a lot of falling deaths.

Probably 'cause it's the best way to say "Hey, this bad guy died, but we're not gonna show you anything violent, so just have him falling away from the camera and your imagination can make up the rest."

Hollywood in general does a lot of falling deaths, especially during the 80s-90s, which was the Disney Renaissance.

Can't forget Maleficent. She turned into a dragon, exclaimed that she was going to kill Prince Philip using all the Powers of Hell, and then was stabbed in the chest with a giant sword and fell into a giant mass of thorn bushes.

Plus, the death isn't a murder. The Joker needs to die at the end of Batman '89, but the audience can't watch Batman kill him... so he falls to his death. It's gravity.

It's a way to visit punishment on your villains without turning your heroes into killers.

In Tarzan, Clayton got hung by the neck from some vines. That was pretty hardcore, even for a movie that showed a bloodstained hut and a baby gorilla cowering in fear right before a cheetah eats it.

yep I was waiting for someone to mention Tarzan, wasnt expecting screencaps though, yikes!

So Tarzan doesnt kill Clayton himself, but he does kill Sabor(the leopard) with his own hands, though I guess in that case it was self defense.

The only funny ending to Old Yeller I ever saw.
