A small nugget, but since I haven't seen any media appearances by Bruce Greenwood for the film so far, I thought this merited a new thread. Moderators, feel free to merge this with other topics if you feel I'm overinflating the forum here.

With only that one clip and the trailer to judge from, Greenwood brings, I dare say, a lot of class to this film. I've always liked him (he was in one of my favorite films, Atom Egoyan's The Sweet Hereafter) and he has a screen presence that is precisely what I would like to see in a seasoned Starfleet Captain, and especially Pike. He seems well cast here. And from this interview, he seems like a nice fellow, too.

Watch and enjoy.

Very well said. :bolian:

Bruce Greenwood does pull off a very good performance as Pike - I wish we could have seen a bit more of him in the film.

Something that Greenwood says in the Interview, about how Hunter's Pike was about having to stay in starfleet or not. I get why this new Pike isnt all about that - but I thought his monologue in The Cage was one of the best bits about it, and really kind of retroactively defines the dilemma of a tired and battered Captain who'd come to the end of his tether and was trying to recapture the spark - something I dont think Trek has ever dealt with since and I would LOVE to see happen again - even though this Trek is different, its a theme which could be explored to great depth in the future, even if it does kinda come across a little Dark Knight/ Spiderman 2 ish.

Funny, yea, that's kinda the thing about The Cage. It's pretty dark!

I wanted to see Greenwood play a trek captain since I saw him play JFK in Thirteen Days.

I was glad they cast him as pike.
