Moral Hazard
In a surprising twist of fate for the Walkers, Holly becomes the only saving grace for Ojai Foods after a major international business deal goes bad.

Official Website for Brothers & Sisters

I figured Saul was at the police station to turn himself in over his shady handling of the business, so the real reason was a bit of a let-down.

I wonder if Holly can be sued to get the ten million back. Are there any grounds other than fraud they could use (assuming they sue)? If they sue for fraud: do you think it would hold-up given that she appeared to believe her daughter was probably a Walker?

There was a better chance to hold Saul up for liability for his actions and sue for violation of his duties since the CEO ordered him to cancel the deal. Since he pursued it he could have been held liable for it and the fallout.

I think Holly is maneuvering to get control of all of the Walker's assets and I think that will happen in the Season Finale. Since she's the CEO of the new merger that's a possibility.

I would guess they could sue for fraud, but without William there to provide information on what Holly told him regarding Rebecca, it might be a tough case. Besides, with everything happened to the business and their personal lives right now, do the Walker's really want to engage in a public lawsuit with the woman who basically controls their business future?

I'm glad that Justin was upset with Rebecca. She did lie, and it was a pretty big one considering the circumstances. And it was something that Holly would do (and did). Rebecca is so critical of her mother and yet she doesn't seem to realize that they are both trying to do what is right, and trying to protect people they care about, but they go about it the wrong way and end up hurting everyone. I wonder where Rebecca is going to live now.

The other problem is that the blood test was not legally binding, so the fraud case could be even more difficult to prove.

I wonder where Rebecca is going to live now.

Nora has a huge heart and has forgiven just about everything, from lying, cheating, stealing, squandering...and a Republican son-in-law. :D My guess is Rebecca shacks up with Nora and Justin for a bit...until Nora finds them in bed together. :wtf:

^Is that before or after Kitty's announcement that she's pregnant in the middle of Kevin and Scott's gay wedding, where Sarah starts hooking up with her ex husband again?

That would be after the wedding and before the Republican nominee dies (which will lead Kitty's fiance to a back-and-forth delegate battle for the nomination...again). ;)

About Kitty's husband...could having him win the Presidency ever really work for the show? This is ultimately a show about family, and I'm afraid that having him as President would focus the show too much on politics or the First Family. The other characters would still be greatly involved, but more in a "how they relate to the First Family" sort of way. The focus now is on Nora as the head and all other stories sort of branch off from her. I don't really think they should change that.

You and Snaploud have generally the right idea. However you're forgetting when Saul completely comes out to the family while apologizing for his role in the $20 million blunder. Meanwhile, we learn William had another kid (or some other deep dark secret) and we go around the Tommy/Julia merry-go-round.

Come one...it's the season finale. Everything has to hit the fan! :D

(PS-it's nice to see these threads finally "take off." I was beginning to think the strike killed everyone's interest in the show.)

I just read the episode description for this Sunday, and it is eerily similar to our predictions here! It's almost exactly what we thought would happen.

It's tough. Take The West Wing, for example. That show was originally supposed to revolve around the staffers. We were barely supposed to see the President, but the president was just too popular to leave on the sidelines. He ended up becoming a huge part of the show (if not the outright lead).

On the other hand, it could certainly be done, but Kitty would have to take a back-seat in most of the drama. She and her husband would likely even have to be downgraded to guest-star status.

Yep. And I'm not a fan of that idea. Look, this show is BROTHERS and SISTERS. I'm all for good family (melo)drama involving Nora, Saul and Robert (among others). But at the core, this is Tommy, Kevin, Kitty, Sarah and Justin being family. Everything else is ancillary.

If Rob Lowe and Calista Flockhart get kicked to Washington, then the dynamic changes considerably. I don't think I'd like the result.

^ I don't think we have to worry about him becoming President unless there is a time jump. He didn't accept the nomination for the Vice Presidency and if something would happen to the winner the delegates would go to the person selected to run as Vice President.

Besides, their politics aren't really true to form to be honest. Robert's brother would be a serious blight on his electibility especially since he's Republican.

Not necessarily. In real life terms, Cheney's daughter is a lesbian, has a partner and they had a child a little while ago. Dick Gephardt's daughter is also a lesbian and he served as a Missouri congressman for close to 30 years. (And the family was featured in a doc regarding the bible and homosexuality.)

Neither of these things was used against Bush/Cheney or Gephardt when he ran for various offices (he ran for the presidential nomination twice).

^ I have seen elections where it has been used though and it has big fallout. Our local representative was the incumbent but was behind in the polling against his opponent by double digit numbers. Three days before the election it was revealed that the opponent's brother had been seen at a nightclub with another guy and it was leaked. It was a landslide election in favor of the incumbent after that (despite several shady dealing that had come to light).

That's questionable.

But accurate according to Campaign Law.

(American Politics 5th Edition)

Are you referring to post-convention electoral delegates? I was under the impression that we were discussing what would happen if the probable Republican nominee died pre-Convention. In that case, the dead guy was never the official nominee, and the VP was only a tentative one. There's no reason why the delegates for the Republican presidential candidate would automatically transfer over to the VP pick, but the delegates could do so if they felt inclined.
