Brightburn (2019) trailer (horror movie where "Kal-El" is bad)

Isn't this kind of a theme in "The Watchmen?" In the movie the brainy guy wants to destroy New York to save the world.

Just saw the trailer in the cinema.
They spoiler alot, I hope that the boy is not evil without redemption.
Not sure if I am going to watch it in the cinema
 
Yeah. I would also like to know if he’s just evil or someone is just using him.
If he’s just evil then it’ll just be a bummer.
