Breaking Orbit

Was in a bit of a rut and needed to do something so I spewed out this.
Broke out my U.S.S. Archer mesh and an old background I used in another picture. All I did was flip it. It's not great but it's got me thinking again.

I'm one of the few people who really liked the shape of the "Akiraprise". I'd have preferred if they'd given her a circular nav/def dish and engine exhausts, but I could accept the design. Especially after temporal contamination based on things Cochrane and Sloane saw.

Okay. I laughed. But as I've already pointed out that I liked the Akiraprise, we've established I have no taste.

Funny, at first glance I thought this was a Loknar render. Then I noticed the aft weapons pod. Nice render in either case. For the record, I don't mind the NX either.

Planning on doing any orthos for this?

I'm with the group that happens to like the NX class. Sure it might not have been the best choice, but considering what the suits would have done if they had their way, I think the team who made her did an extremely good job.

Mind you, I just want to clarify that while I like the NX-class starship, this extrapolation is also quite nice. I'm not 100% happy with the location of the nav/def dish, but it's a wonderful model.

The idea for this desing came from my version of the Franz Joseph Saladin class ship. I didn't want the dish in the front of the saucer because that was the only thing about the NX I didn't like. And I didn't want it hanging from a pole on the bottom of the saucer. This was the best way to get what I want I tied it to what was the planetary sensor.

Planning on doing any orthos for this?

I have orthos for all my ships on my blog.
