Braga's REDEMPTION

I have been one of those who has been pretty hard on Brannon Braga. But I have to give him his props. This is, IMO, one of the best seasons of 24; ever! Each week I am dreading the end of the episode knowing its going to have a cliffhanger that leaves me hanging for a week....so..way to go Brannon. You have, in one season of 24, made up for ENTERPRISE (which no one outside of this fan base even watched) and the vanilla Voyager....

You're nicer than I am-the man will forever burn in effigy in my brain for damages done to Trek.

Perhaps...but since I never really cared for Voyager or Enterprise I can temper my opinion of him a bit more than others.

I was "really" active in the military when Voyager came around so I wasn't able to 'get into it' but later watched it and found it to be rather bland. And as for Enterprise? I liked the pilot, I still do. But the crew became too 'experienced' far too fast. This is why I like my "Phase One" story because that crew is never going to be experts at exploration..

Which is what I thought Enterprise was going to do. Show the rawness of this crew and the awe of being the first ones out there. But they messed it up and Enterprise just told the same old BERMAN/Braga stories with no imagination, IMO.

I liked the actors. I actually thought Bakula did good given the material they had to go on....

But 24 was a show that I thought was just getting dumb the past two seasons, especially after the last season. Braga/Coto are show runners now and have really helped 24 get its "balls" back...

Really, I've given up on it again. I've thought this season has been just as stupid this season as the previous two, which I've also stopped watching after a few eps. I want to like the show, but it just slips further away from being likeable every season. Although I have to admit this season has been slightly better than the previous 2, but still not actually good.

Wow..we really see this differently, which is cool. But I love the pacing, and I love all the stuff going on..and when "you know who" was killed last episode I freaked..what the hell is JACK going to do now??? Its fun to watch for all the STAR TREK vets..Capt Maxwell...Tony Todd..Federation President..all in one episode!!!

I believe Manny Coto has been one of the show runners since Season Five of 24. And I dunno how fair it is to credit Braga with the improvement of Season Seven since a) he's just one of a dozen writers on the show and b) the old writers since the end of S6 have been talking about how they're going to change the show and try not to repeat the past as much.

Thats all cool. But this season has been pretty good and I hope they can keep it going til the end....its been a fun ride thus far...

Like Mr Light said, it's hard to say if Braga is worthy of any mercy since it's hard to quantify his involvement in the series.

This is truly the best 24 has been in YEARS.

It could be many things, and I'm sure Bragga included, that helped!

His new show will probably be the true test. The one about the Hadron Collider, forget what it's called.

This is, IMO, one of the best seasons of 24; ever!

I found it boring and repetitive, and bailed on it for good this season.

I wouldn't say it's Braga's fault, tho. The premise was always pretty shallow and I've known all along this would happen eventually. This just isn't a show where fresh, new ideas are possible.

I have to admit I was surprised last year when I found out that Braga and even Coto were part of 24. The writing has been terrific, with the plot non-stop. Gone are the days of continously "guessing the mole" for the entire season.

This season has been far better than the sixth, but still 2nd to last in my book. I've noticed that episodes written by Braga and Coto tend to include more technobabble than the others, though disguised by the modern-day language. It's interesting that they write as a partership, since on Enterprise it was always Coto solo, or B&B. Now that they're writing together, it's pretty clear that they still love their made-up computer protocols.

I'm with you Wildcard..its clear from reading this thread that its not easy to please everyone..but at this point I am rating this season #3 and if it continues as it has, it could take #2

I still think season #1 was the best and will probably never be taken down....but last season was the worst, absolute worse of the show, by far...

After this season is done we should all rank the seasons of 24. But thumbs up to whoever is at the center of making this, again, a great season. I almost didn't watch this year because of how bad that last season was....but thankfully I did..

This is the first season I have ever seen of 24 and I am really enjoying it.

I hate Braga. If I would have known he was working on it I would've specifically not gotten into it to begin with.

24 has been, for the most part, a good show. The only thing that is really hard to believe is that Jack Baur is alive and all his friends from the past seasons are pretty much dead. Tony and Chloe are the only ones left from the early seasons. But every year Jack nearly dies several times per story. And yet he is the only one who is left?

But its cool. You just know, as an actor, the best thing you can do is hope they don't put you too close to Jack or you will die....

Seriously. They got a couple good seasons out of it, but "24" has been one of the worst shows on television for the last five years.

I'd say that 7 is an improvement on 6 but no revolutionary changing of the formula. I would rank them, best to worst, 3-2-5-7-4-6-1... I put 1 at the bottom because I think people tend to remember the highlights and forget that literally 50% of the airtime was devoted to Stupid Kim and Amnesiac Terri. Jack only got one quarter of the screen time. So basically 50% of the show was good and 50% was absolute filler garbage.

I would agree with you..but not this year. I have watched this show from day one and THIS season is one of the better ones.

I tried watching it, and barely made it through the first four hours. It didn't even have the "so bad it was fun" vibe that "Knight Rider" had.
