Brace for Impact

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1UIWrkswvA

I never considered this until I saw this video, but Cavit truely was an idiot...

He was behind the tactical post and decided to make a run for his chair???

Wonder why he was killed?

After that performance - Too good for him I say!
I thought he was a moron the first time I saw Caretaker and my opinion has not changed. Don't make a run for your already occupied chair.
He does the same maneuver in the Bujold scenes too, so it was scripted in for some reason.

Well, they had to make room for Chakotay somehow. Poor Cavit, they didn't even write him a good death. Good thing he wasn't Klingon.

Dying had its advantages though. Cavit never had to find out that Janeway replaced him with a criminal!

Here's an interesting tidbit I never thought about, from Memory Alpha's entry on Cavit:

"Along with Voyager's original chief medical officer, Cavit was leery of Tom Paris given his criminal past."

Hmm, what else do Cavit and the original CMO have in common? Oh, that's right. They're both DEAD.

Maybe Seven of Nine was right after all -- there WAS a conspiracy. But Tom Paris was behind it. He was the only one on the ship for whom getting stranded in the DQ was nothing but gain. And everyone who would have stood in his way (Cavit, the CMO, and Stadi whose job he wanted) was killed the first day of the mission!

Tom Paris, cunning criminal mastermind. I think I'm onto something here. It makes at least as much sense as Seven's theories.

:shifty:

Hey, he probably could have thrown himself into his chair in time...if Tom hadn't already been there.

I'm sure some would call it poetic justice, but...really, Tom. :guffaw:

You guys may be on to something there. Tom even put the final nail in Cavit's coffin when he sat in one of the command chairs. So even if Cavit made it he'd have to sit in Tom's lap.

I feel a very twisted fanfic coming on. Caretaker -- the true story. Written from inside EVIL!Tom's head.

The original Chief Medical Officer was also a major ass. When he got the brace for impact order, he probably grabbed an activated laser scalpel and held it right next to his head.

I just almost spit my drink on my keyboard.

^ makes ya wonder what the chief engineer was doing to cause a warp-core breach...

"Brace For Impact eh? Mr Carey, i think we'll re-allign the dilithium array"
