Well when l was growing up it was better than this genertion which is coming along today.

Really? That's odd considering that, as I said, violent crimes are DOWN since past years. This idea the every new generation is worse is bullshit and has been around forever. John Milton made fun of it in a speech he made.

Generations past gave us the likes of racists and sexists. There are less and less of those as time goes on which, to me, is an improvement.

Well when l was a child you would have sports or certain things to occupy your mind.
But kids are lazy today they only want to sit in front of the screen and interact with that.
I am not saying all children are like this but things have changed.
You have alot of volience and when a kid is very young they think what they are following is real.
That is where you need the guidence of parents.
And if they are working they are not there to supervise there childrens activities.

Most of the children I know are not unsupervised. Instead, if both parents are working, the children attend after-school activities at least while they are still at primary school. They are less supervised once they are high school age but then again I wasn't supervised when I was a teenager and that was almost 40 years ago.

I really like those links it gives us a different aspeck on how times have changed.
iI also want to state that yes l was unsupervised at certain times but we dont have the things kids have acess too.

Alot of younger children are treated like little adults you only have to walk down the main street and you will see thiis.

By the fact that 18.9% of Victoria's population are aged under 14. That means there are more than 960,000 children under the age of 14. According the figures that Luther Sloan provided only 4867 alleged offenders were aged 14 or younger, meaning that the vast majority of children weren't charged with a crime. Even if 10 times more children committed crime than were charged that is still only a small fraction of all children.

This idea that our society has gotten worse is absolutely absurd. There is less racism, sexism and more of an understanding of the harmful roles that social constructs play in our society. The parents of the child who had the substance thrown on him should sue the boy and his parents, who should be made to pay all of the hospital bills associated with the incident, along with a court addendum that when this kid is 18, he also be legally required to pay their medical bills for the incident, that way he can know the cost of what he did.

His parents are not to blame. At 9 years old, you know right from wrong, and simply put, this kid was a punk-ass little twerp, who did something wrong, and should pay for it. Heck, throw some acid on him... fitting, since I don't think the mother and child ever wanted it dumped on them.

Sound cruel? Probably. But then again, by my own free admission, I don't much like children, lol. Then again, knowing that, I plan never to have any. The only thing a lot of parents are guilty of today is not disciplining and punishing their kids when they act up or do something wrong. Then they blame society or TV/movies/video games when their children run amok. But if a child is the one who commits the wrong act, it is the child who should bear responsibility for that act... at least then, that would teach the child that there ARE consequences to what they do.

yes l have to agree that the crimes that children have commited has increased all over Australia.
it is the company hey keep and the area they live in
i was on the bus going to work and they said that the boy who comitted this crime was from a troubled family plus the area he lives in is a problem area.

Things have changed and a few years back we didnt have problems with all the drugs it is getting to the point where even needles wash up on the beach.
But getting back to the increased crime it is these boys and girls get into gangs and then they go around hunting for a fight or they start this is a our territory .
In the next town from me they had to movesthese children along so people can shop.

But alot of these children are not supervised my parents travel into the city and they see children as young as 10 yrs old roaming the streets

Also getting back to the child who did this attack the childrens services are interveiwing the parents it will be interesting what comes out of this..
