Box Office Mojo - B.O. Prediction + User Polls

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, but I came across something interesting.

http://www.imdb.com/features/summermovieguide/2009/boxoffice/

Brandon Grey, the man behind Box Office Mojo, believes that Star Trek will be the third highest grossing film of the year with $230 Million brought in (I'm assuming domestically.) He gives his thoughts and thoughts on the other summer tentpoles in the link above.

Meanwhile on Box Office Mojo, a poll is currently being taken for what users think will be the highest grossing movie in May. Star Trek came in 3rd very close with Terminator, but both being bested by Wolverine's user box office prediction.

Also, Box Office Mojo is taking a poll for the most anticipated film in May. Star Trek is currently #2 behind Terminator Salvation with 23.7%. It's almost neck and neck with Wolverine.

Those polls can be found here: http://boxofficemojo.com/polls/

Still, looks to be pretty good, but #1 always helps! If you'd like to vote, you must join but it takes no less than 2 minutes and is free.

Devon...

You might want to revise the thread title. I know you had "box office" in mind, but traditionally the term "B.O." means something only your best friends will warn you about. :D

Anybody who really thinks this thread is about body odour is having a really really bad day.

Anyhoo, another goodish sign is that local theaters in St. Louis are preselling tickets. I've never noticed them to presell on other releses. That's a good thing. right?

I'll ask a mod to do that. I know when I typed it out it would read that way for some, but it wasn't letting me type the full thread title.

As "big" as all this hype over Wolverine is, I believe it will open big, but negative reviews and word of mouth will kill it quick, whereas the gushing praise Trek has already received plus what Im sure to be electric word of mouth should help keep Trek up in the charts.

Hopefully.

Well, if this film were to make 230 million domestically I think we could look forward to seeing the sequel sometime in 2008 - Paramount would find a way.

$230 million seems like it's in the realm of the possible, but I wouldn't go that high.

And only $140 million for T4? That seems way too low to me.

I don't think it's really necessary, given the context, and I'm pretty sure that "B.O." has stood for "box office" for at least as long as it has the other thing.

M', boffo B.O.
