Finally got around to seeing Bottle Shock. A really nice little movie based very loosely on the famous 1976 French wine-tasting event which introduced Californian (American) wine internationally.
Alan Rickman is great as Steven Spurrier, the English wine vendor who comes up with the idea. Dennis Farina is also good as Spurrier's friend who runs the store next to him. Most of it is shot in the Napa region and Bill Pullman, Chris Pine, Freddy Rodriquez and the rest of the cast are also very good.
It's a very simple little story told extremely well with an excellent use of humor to enhance the story rather than drown it out. It also shows off the period note perfect without becoming a satire of 1976.
I went back and took about seven friends with me. Anyone else see this little gem? It might be hard to find, but I really recommend it.
