Boston Legal is back tonight!

"Tabloid Nation" - Alan Shore and Jerry Espenson take on a tabloid talk show when a woman is murdered by her ex-boyfriend after declining his marriage proposal on television; and Shirley Schmidt defends a friend - an unstable war hero -- for shooting seals for meals. Meanwhile, Denny Crane goes to extreme measures to win Shirley's affections back when she invites him to dinner; and Lorraine Weller tells Alan that he should seek professional help after he confesses to her that he used to murder his toys as a child, on "Boston Legal," TUESDAY, APRIL 8 (10:02-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

I missed the first 20 minutes, but what I saw was pretty average. Alan's closing needed to go through a few more revisions to help it stop meandering. Shirley's closing was great.

Is Clarence still on the show anymore?

Oh fuck I missed the entire episode. I didn't even know it was on tonight. As usual ABC with their very stellar promotion of Boston Legal.

Yes, once in a blue moon.

Literally, we had a blue moon this year I think and he has been on once, maybe twice this season.

They needed to fire everyone and just worry about the main people in order to save money.

It was a blah episode, but it really does feel like Kelly is moving the show along and coming to a conclusion. I hope ABC announces they are bringing the show back (Even if only for 13 episodes) just so he can end the show well.

Agreed that the show is headed for closing. Denny's mental condition is getting worse. I don't see him taking any more cases in the future. There were some truly hysterical moments in this episode, but overall it was "good".

"Give me two pops if you agree with me, Jerry!"

"POP POP" :guffaw:

Good episode, not Excellent I don't think. There was some real funny shit in there though. Shatner's delivery of "Life's a cabaret, man!" had me laughing my ass off.

I wish ABC would just decide what they're doing with the show and tell us already. The suspense is killing me!

One of the five remaining episodes has Alan and Denny arguing a case before the Supreme Court, but you're right, I don't know that he'll be first-chairing any time soon. It certainly looks like that's the direction they're taking, but they've turned on a dime before (Lori Colson's sexual harassment suit against Denny looked like it would de-throne him at the end of Season 1, but then it got quickly resolved in Season 2).

Boston Legal is going nowhere...

10.16 million 2.5/ 7...No other show at 10pm can do that for ABC except Brothers & Sisters.

great ratings.

Great episode, I loved how Alan got everything right about the state of TV.

Two minutes of Boston Legal's timeslot was that damn dancing show, does that do anything to up the ratings.

And when people know it's on, it does well. People watching the dancing show knew it was on.

Plus they are trying to see if other shows can do as well, Eli Stone is after DH this week, Boston Legal's old slot. Then Boston Legal moves to Wednesday it will most likely bomb.

ABC is trying to see what shows should stay and what ones should go, and BL they want on the "to go" list.

I quite liked the ep. Seemed like the older ones with a more serious tone.
That said, Alan's closing was a tad too obvious (while true), I thought. Agreed that Shirley's was great.

Will be interesting where they're going with Denny, but him shooting the clown was a hoot. With a capital 'h'!

I'm sure the folks at Neilsen are smart enough to know that 10:00:00-10:01:59 counts as Dancing with the Stars, and that Boston Legal starts at 10:02:00, and count it accordingly.

I don't think to highly of the people at Neilsen so you never know. ;)

Plus if basketball runs long it counts a little, for something. I don't really pay attention, it says so in the ratings thread.
