Borg economics

I still think spine-slug-ifying drones could make sense as a response to this new concept of individuality infecting the collective. If there is now a threat of drones developing identities and de-assimilating then turning each drone into a queen-like spine splug would impose a practical barrier to reverting to your earlier way of life.

I like to think the Borg were leaderless originally, with the original Queen being an expert on insects who "assimilated" them.

In hives, you occasionally have an invader who can disguise itself as one of the hive.

See also: the Queen's "you think in such three-dimensional terms" quote from FC, implying the Borg, or at least the Queen, isn't bound to just one universe.

The Borg may not entirely be beyond bluffing, even when they feel they aren't. See their 'resistance is futile' statement which until now has proved to be overstating the case, as far as humans go at least. This Queen statement may be another one.

This is where I'm at. I trust the Queen as far as I can throw her. But, if she told the truth about being in superposition, then the Borg are significantly more dangerous than they appear at face value.
