Books in Which Data Gets to Show Off His Command Potential

He spends most of A Time to Heal by David Mack as first officer, which shows off his command abilities fairly well. For that matter, in my eBook Enterprises of Great Pitch and Moment, he serves as CO of the Enterprise, since Picard and Riker are both off-ship on special missions.

Yeah, I'd heard that. My copy is still on the way from TFAW. I'm not terribly jazzed about the sounds of this however without a damn good reason behind it. Especially since it's been plotted by Trek XI's writers. :vulcan:

Peter David's classic "Imzadi" shows us a future with Captain Data, and he does a very good job. We get a lot of scenes with him, and are even introduced to Data as captain first through the eyes of his officers. Great stuff, all around.

I always said there was an easy out as far as Data was concerned in Nemesis.

Just have a Predestination scenario where Picard or hell better yet LaForge, ends up going back in time and pulling Data off the Scimitar a split second before it goes up.

It solves everything, doesn't effect the timeline and allows Data to return to the novels to do something only Data can do.

Or

Q grabs him up and plops him down 5 years later with no explanation.

Possibilities abound you know. For example, I heard Spock's about to become his own mentor and everything.
