Book'em danno

There have been episodes here and there in the various TREK series that deal with murder...I mean, how can we forget Wolf in the Fold.

Of the few various STAR TREK episodes that involve a murder, be it by a person, an android, the computer, or Uhura's singing, which 'murder' episode was the best done? Which one was the worst?

My favorite murder episodes were "In the Pale Moonlight" (DS9) and the crazy Vulcan killer from the same season. Both very interesting and enjoyable episodes to watch, and ITPM shows how far Sisko would go to save the Federation.

Yup, great episode.
Similitude Part II. Immediately following the crew's return home from The Expanse, Archer and Phlox are summoned to the Lyssarian homeworld to stand trial for murdering Sim to save Trip.

Worst that I can recall was a TNG show that was murder by holodeck, one of the few turds from third season (or 4th?) Riker is accused of murder, but it turns out that the guy's own gadget killed him (I think that is how it winds up ... come to think of it, I don't even care, so that has to be worst for me.)

Best ... murder mystery ... JOURNEY TO BABEL, because the murder thing is only a small part of the story. mystery is something TREK should do with sense of wonder, and murder seems pretty pedantic.

I thought this was a thread to discuss Jack Lord's possible casting as Kirk going by the title. I was going to say that Leslie Nielsen was JUST the right age and look and would have been a pretty good Kirk, as would John Saxon or James Coburn, who GR said had no sex appeal (yet had a great feature career at the time with the FLINT movies and HARD CONTRACT (still not on DVD damnit) and THE PRESIDENT'S ANALYST.

I also heard a rumor that CAMERON MITCHELL was also rumored for KIRK..someone needs to get this stuff down in a book because some stuff keeps coming out even after all of shatner's so called 'tell all' books..

But I agree with Leslie. And he is canadian!!

Hadn't Nielsen already kinda PLAYED Kirk in "Forbidden Planet"? ;)

I think so...in fact, having just watched FORBIDDEN PLANET recently with a friend, I am very sure Roddenberry used that movie as some kind of template. The story is so Trekish...

Llloyd Bridges
Peter Graves
Jack Lord
Leslie Nielson
Cameron Mitchell

are we missing any of the other Kirks?

Forbidden Planet was the only SF movie of its time where the actors seem to take their roles seriously (so did the writers). Many SF movies from that era don't appear believable, because it appears the actors didn't take their roles seriously.
Clint Eastwood would have made a great Kirk. Visualize him facing the Klingons. "This is a Colt 45 photon torpedo. It is the finest crafted weapon known to the galaxy." "Go ahead, make my day." The lines are endless. :klingon:

To get back on the OP's topic: Wolf in the Fold was a good murder mystery, Sci-Fi or otherwise. It gets my vote.

Brad Dourif's "Lon Suder" was one of the best murderers ever; great episode, VOY: "Meld."
