on Amazon the ebook version of Unspoken Truth is $18.99 and paperback is $24.23
Seems a little high![]()
Those are most likely the print on demand reprints S&S offers for out of print books, sadly they also hike the eBook prices very often when the POD are released.
Yeah, I think the eBook prices are set as a percentage of the print price. Though it's not universal-- a new copy of A Choice of Catastrophes $19.18 on Amazon, but the eBook is $6.99, for example. Those are most likely the print on demand reprints S&S offers for out of print books, sadly they also hike the eBook prices very often when the POD are released.
Yeah, I taught Octavia Butler's Xenogenesis: Dawn in class this summer. The book is $18.73 in POD on Amazon, whereas the whole trilogy in TPB is $13.97. I told my students to get the TPB version, but a couple got the POD one anyway. It was weird looking-- wide margins, like you say-- and also there were a number of printing errors-- missing lines and the like. The SF bookshop in Sydney accidentally ordered in a batch of P.O.D. Trek reprint novels, assuming it was a new title. They are oddly larger than the regular MMPB, and the margins are wide. Collectors would be better off trying their luck on a clean second hand copy.
I understand why they would just set it at a specific percentage of the paperback version, but prices like Unspocken Truth's for the equivalent of a MMPB are annoying. Those are most likely the print on demand reprints S&S offers for out of print books, sadly they also hike the eBook prices very often when the POD are released.
