Looks great to me. I wouldn't be putting it into your portfolio either. I heard that when I was in school for graphic design myself. They want to see your original work.
How exactly is this not my original work...?
Anyone unfamiliar with Star Trek might not recognize that is original about this. He or she might think that you just sketched a drawing of an existing vessel from a photo. If you have to explain what is original about it (and, let's be truthful, what isn't), then it is probably a bad idea for a professional portfolio.

I'm an English major and writer, so I'm going to avoid criticizing or commenting on the imagery.
You have some spelling errors in your text, and your first sentence about Trip and his past with the Enterprise crew seems to be a fragment.
I'd run the text through a spell-checker and look at that sentence again and make adjustments accordingly. I'm sure the folks grading this will notice this and wonder why it didn't get caught prior to submission.

I actually have run it through a spell check and revised some of the sentences to avoid fragments. Can you tell me where you're seeing these problems?
