Boba Fett on The Clone Wars

The writing was on the wall months ago when we were told that TCW was decanonizing the previous Boba Fett backstory from the novels...

Why didn't they just get the actor that played Jango Fett to do the voice? Wouldn't that have made more sense?

Well Boba's still pretty young so it makes sense for him to still sound different from his father.

Actually, what would make sense within the context of the show is to go with Dee Bradley Baker, who does the voices of all the Clone Troopers derived from Jango Fett's genome (and gives them all a New Zealand accent like Temuera Morrison's, though why an accent would be hereditary is beyond me).

It sort of makes sense, obviously they aren't taught to speak by normal learning so some sort of imprinting must be used. Probably just copied Jango's verbatim, including the accent.

Daniel Logan is NOT the original Boba Fett!

He's still a cool guy, and I say if ya have the chance to meet him at a scifi con, do so.

The original Boba is the guy who did the voice on the Holiday Special. I don't know who that was though. The first live action Boba was Jeremy Bulloch. I don't know who did his voice either. :D

^

Tem Morrison in the revised DVD special editions.

And since I've never seen the holiday special, Jeremy Bulloch is the original Boba Fett.

I did a little checking. The original Boba Fett was a voice actor named Don Francks who also played Jann Tosh on Star Wars: Droids amongst a shitload of other voice roles from that era.

Then of course there was Jeremy Bulloch who was the first live action actor to play the part and his voice actors were Jason Wingreen and later Temura Morrison.

Then there was Mark Austin who played the part in the Star Wars: Special Edition.

Then at last came Daniel Logan.

If you want to get really picky Alan Rosenberg and Ed Begley Jr played Fett in the NPR radio adaptations of the OT.

EDIT: Boba Fett's FIRST EVER appearance in the Star Wars mythos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hhf34nxbkV0

BTW don't for a minute think that just because this segment is pretty good that the SWHS is good because it ain't. Not even a little...

I suppose they want him to have a younger voice, which Logan would have. Remember that Boba didn't have the accelerated growing/ageing rate that the other clones had. And they probably want him to be distinguished from the herd, which is another reason to go with a different actor. He's not any old clone, he's Boba Feckin' Fett!

You're right about the accent but I suppose the logic is that if all the clones in the movies sounded like Morrison, down to the Kiwi accent, they want continuity in the animated version and give them the same 'fush and chups' accent.

^Yeah, but Dee Bradley Baker is certainly capable of doing a wide range of different voices himself. He's not only the Clone Troopers, but most of the Omnitrix aliens in Ben 10: Alien Force, Clock King and various other characters on Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Doc Connors on The Spectacular Spider-Man, Perry the Platypus on Phineas and Ferb, Appa and Momo on Avatar: The Last Airbender, etc. (He's pretty much become Frank Welker's heir apparent as the go-to guy for animal noises.) So distinguishing Boba from the other clones shouldn't be a problem. This is basically a case of celebrity stunt casting. I'm not condemning that; it's kind of refreshing to get someone from the movie cast other than Anthony Daniels, Ahmed Best, and Matthew Wood reprising their role. But let's call it what it is.

(And yeah, I know the Clone Wars movie also had Samuel L. Jackson and Christopher Lee, but the series doesn't.)

I just wanted to mention that Ahmed only did one episode of Clone Wars, Bombad Jedi. BJ Hughes has voiced the character the rest of the time.

I know Daniel Logan wasn't the original Boba. He was the AOTC one and he is reprising his role.

I was never really a Boba Fett fan but I did love the backstory GL gave him in AOTC. Scholastic also did about six books on him after the events of AOTC and they were really good.

That would make more sense. He is a clone, just like the others except for more free will and a normal ageing process.

I really enjoyed that. Until now, I've never seen even one second of the Star Wars Christmas Special. So the rest of it all stunk?
