Bob Sheppard would have been 100 years old today (as of October 20).

I think they mentioned during the game today that Derek Jeter asked Sheppard to make a recording of him announcing Jeter so he'd have Sheppard doing it for him for the rest of his career. Anyone know if that's true or not? Nice story, if it is.

^ Yes, it is true. Sheppard's voice recording announces all of Jeter's at-bats (and will keep doing so for the rest of Jeter's career). There's also a different recording used during All-Star games, AFAIK.
