I hope this is an example of some of the details in the book; I can hardly wait until Tuesday.

HaH! I called it. The only real (but vital) hint was that the writers said it was no coincidence within the narrative that the shipyard was built in Iowa.

But if George gets a shipyard, I'm sure Robau gets an entire starbase or something. Why? Cuz he's Robau.

I think they should rename the entire Alpha quadrant to Robau Quadrant. :bolian:

Don't think so; Nero stabbed him in the chest, and it showed up terminated on screen in big, red letters.

I liked Robau; he looked good.

In all seriousness, I like that Robau didn't go out like some chump. It was apparent that there was a conscious effort not to turn Robau into another forgettable non-starring, incompetent captain. Rather, we had a guy who cooly and calmly gave his final (and pretty well-thought) orders to his first officer, a guy who had the cajones to knock on the front door of a massively terrifying ship, a guy who, while scared, still managed to face down the enemy and do the asking. He did Starfleet proud.

^ ^ His interrogation and death occupied Nero and gave George time to get things set up to save the crew. It was valuable time, bought with his life.

I thought it was either the chest or neck.

Makes sense though, Orci has obviously thought this through. Hoewever, with Kirk having Harry Potter like celebrity status, and the fact Georges son is living there, wouldnt slapping a shipyard there piss the Kirks off even more:

"Your dad has died, on a massive starship while you were being born. He made a celeb out of you as it is but here, have a shipyard in your, err, front yard"

I loved the little Kelvin salt shaker, yet another reference to TOS and its saltshaker scapels maybe. :p

Oh yeah, good points. It's so hard to believe that captains like Styles and Esteban would ever be capable of the same self-sacrificial gambits.

Meh. They could have had it built in S.F. or space and named it after Kirk. Iowa? In the middle of nowhere?

I can't wait to get my hands on the novelization so some of this stuff gets fleshed out and explained.

Actually, it would make more sense to build it in the middle of nowhere (compared to S.F.) because you would need a lot of open space.
