In TMP we see the Enterprise with both a gold deflector dish and later a blue one.
I like the gold as it more closely resembles the radar -looking one from the TV show. How about you?

Myself, I prefer the Blue deflector dish. It's more vibrant, I guess. The refit Enterprise.... it's gold, baby....gold!

You are right that the blue is more vibrant. It probably just works better on screen than the gold/copper one. I like the gold because of how it seems to be a modernization of the TV show one.

I prefer both, in the system they used. With the dish gold under low power, then ramped up to blue when under full power.

The blue stands out more and more vibrant, I much prefer it.

Ditto for the Enterprise-E and her yellow deflector. It should've been made into a blue dish too.

I just mean blue is much better, not my model. I do not have a pic. It's in a tote in my garage so I'm not likely to be taking one soon.

Here's someone's pic of it with the deflector glowingly brightly blue though.

I like the color change and I love the idea that it warms up and cools down, but I prefer the blue as it demonstrates she is fully under way. But it seems blue has become the signature Federation color.

Huh. I must be one of the few who really likes the gold. Don't get me wrong, I love the blue, but that's the only color deflectors have been for years, and seeing a more subdued gold...well, it seems special. Plus, as others have noted, the color change helps make the ship feel more "functional." And, darn it, gold is pretty. :D
