Blessed be the Sun

If it was a 20th-century version of the Roman Empire, then why aren't the Romans speaking Latin instead of colloquial English? That has always bothered me, more so than the reference to Christianity. (I am a good [moderate] Baptist, BTW.)
And does that planet’s Rome have the river Tiber and the seven hills and all that stuff?

My point was simply that Roddenberry may have been an atheist (as am I ) but at the same time he was a business man. This was the 1960s. It was not a time to rock the Christian boat.

P.S. Great to be back, was away a while. I fnd while the other shows seem to look dated, TOS looks "classic" with the age and uniqueness being part of its appeal.
