https://www.bigfinish.com/news/v/billie-piper-reprises-rose-tyler With Camille Coduri as Jackie, Shaun Dingwall as Pete, and Mark Benton as the alternate universe version of Clive from the episode “Rose.” Set in the lead-up to “Journey’s End,” as Rose searches dying parallel universes to find the Doctor. RTD had some creative input. “The series has its own distinct tone. Focusing on the era of Russell T Davies, there are no alien threats or villains to defeat. Instead these amazing stories capture and showcase the beautifully rich human characters of Doctor Who.”
Eh, pass. I still haven't bothered with the second Tenth Doctor box set because I'm so bored by Rose now. Not even annoyed, just bored.
When BF hinted last weekend that a Billie Piper announcement was coming I figured it would be a Rose-on-parallel-Earth box set, and I wasn’t much interested. BF has struggled to do Doctor-less new series material that has its own identity and doesn’t feel like a workaround, and Piper has struggled (on TV and for BF) to recapture the Rose of 2005 and 2006. But it sounds like they’ve put a lot of effort into coming up with a distinctive and worthwhile concept for this set, and I’m intrigued to see if they can pull off the darker, character-based angle.
Don't mince words, David, tell us what you really think. I'm looking forward to this set, but I sure do wish Mickey was part of it.
I wasn't a fan of Rose after Eccleston left, but is her series popular for the people who like the character enough to explore this audio series in the way people who enjoyed previous Doctor eras have had the actors return to do new material?
Yeah, once Mickey became a real character (series 2) and not the cardboard cutout throwaway joke stick figure he was written as during series 1, he got some worthy character development.
