Big Finish Doctor Who Pricing Alerts

Inspired by @JD 's Trek Lit pricing alerts thread.

In celebration of the recently announced Seventh Doctor box set reuniting him with his novel adaptation companions Chris and Roz, the entire Novel Adaptations line is now up to 50% off for the next couple days.

The highlights are the adaptation of Russell T Davies' beloved Damaged Goods featuring Chris & Roz, the Sherlock Holmes & Watson/Seventh Doctor, Bernice Summerfield & Ace team-up All-Consuming Fire and the six-part Fifth & Seventh Doctors epic Cold Fusion.

While not as good as those serials, Love and War adapts the first appearance of Bernice Summerfield, and Theatre of War adapts the first appearance of everyone's favorite morally ambiguous recurring Bernice Summerfield/Gallifrey character (and The Doctor's older brother) Irving Braxiatel. He's introduced in a subplot, granted.

Seventh Doctor
Love and War $6.50 US
The Highest Science $6.50 US
Damaged Goods $6.50 US
All-Consuming Fire $6.50 US
Theatre of War $6.50 US
Nightshade $6.50 US
Original Sin $11.00 US

Seventh & Fifth Doctors
Cold Fusion $13.00 US

Fourth Doctor
The Romance of Crime $6.50 US
The English Way of Death $6.50 US
The Well-Mannered War $6.50 US

Deluxe Box Sets (with additional special features)
The Romance of Crime & The English Way of Death $20.00 US
Damaged Goods & The Well-Mannered War $20.00 US

I'll never say no to new adventures set in the NA era, though I really wish they'd get on with adapting at least a few more of the 'must-have' novels while Sylvester's still around to do them!

Timewyrm: Revelation would be good, and means we need three of the first four NA at least (we can skip apocalypse...) and Cats Cradle: Times Crucible is Doctor Lite...Warhead would be good too.

Then we can get to work on the EDAs

Big Finish has teamed up with Humble Bundle to raise money for BBC's Children in Need. The offer runs for the next two weeks.

$15 US or more gets you
  • Torchwood: The Conspiracy

The 8th Doctor's miniseries Dark Eyes ($35 US) has its fans as does The Ghosts of Gralstead, a six-part 4th Doctor serial starring Tom Baker collected in Philip Hinchcliffe Present's first volume ($45 US). The main point of interest here, believe it or not, is the Torchwood audios. James Goss' Torchwood audios have been (Series 3 of the standalone releases aside) ridiculously consistent in overall quality.

He's taken a series that, apart from Russell T Davies' miniseries Children of Earth, wasn't really that loved and breathed new life into it. For $15 US or more you get the first seven out of Goss' original twelve standalone audios (known as "The Committee Arc" due to their somewhat loose narrative arc based around the mysterious Committee) plus the 10th Anniversary special The Torchwood Archive, which brought The Committee Arc to a close.

That's $68.92 US worth of Torchwood audios for $15 US or more. Plus the original standalone Dark Eyes miniseries (Normally $35 US.), Volume 1 of Philip Hinchcliffe Presents (Normally $45 US), Volumes 1-4 of Short Trips and a couple interviews with the Bakers Tom & Colin. So help out the kids if you can and get some sweet Torchwood and Doctor Who audio action in the process.

Wow, great tip - thanks! The only ones out this whole thing that I don't already have are the Short Trips stories, but I'll probably donate more anyway. It's for a good cause!

Thanks for the head's up. All for a great cause, but it's too bad I already own all of the Doctor Who audios and I have no interest in the Torchwood audios.

Big Finish is having a sale on most of their Fourth Doctor audio plays starring Tom Baker. Just click on the link they provided on their news page about the sale and use the password JELLYBABY.

Hour-long episodes of Series 1-5 of The Fourth Doctor Adventures, normally $8.99 US each, are just $2.99 US each. The highlight is The Trouble with Drax.

The Lost Stories: The Fourth Doctor Box Set, normally $45.00 US, is now $22.00 US. This includes the acclaimed adaptation of The Foe from the Future, the unproduced serial written by Robert Banks Stewart (Terror of the Zygons, The Seeds of Doom) that was originally going to conclude Season 14. It's also free on Big Finish's Spotify if $22 is still too steep for you.

Just a reminder that while you can also get Philip Hinchliffe Presents, Volume One for $22.00 US instead of the usual $45.00, for the next few days over at Humble Bundle you can get it for just $15.00 US. Plus the popular 4-episode Eighth Doctor miniseries Dark Eyes (normally $35.00 US) and eight of acclaimed producer James Goss' initial thirteen Torchwood audio plays (normally $68.92 US for all the audios they're offering). Plus a two-hour interview with Tom Baker, a two-hour interview with Colin Baker and the first four volumes of Doctor Who: Short Trips. The Short Trips are all 10-25 minutes long. There's eight of these shorts per volume, so that's 32 shorts total across the four volumes. All that for just $15.00 US and supporting BBC's Children in Need charity.

I saw this earlier, but unfortunately, I already own everything that's up for sale and only just barely. I haven't gotten to seasons 6 & 7 yet but I guess they're too recent be on sale yet, alas.
