Spoilers Beyond as TNG 5

[May contain SPOILERS for the movie STAR TREK BEYOND (now in theaters) - M']

trying to imagine the exact same story but with TNG in around 2006 (40th anniversary) with around a 70m budget. Djimon Hounsou as Krall. Rosario Dawson as Jaylah

Jaylah with Geordi
Picard and Worf
Riker and Data/B4
Troi and Crusher with Krall

Yorktown would be DS9. Enterprise E destroyed at the start by the swarm. at the end they get the Enterprise F (which looks pretty much same as the E)

 

You just ruined a good movie!

 

So you would downsize the danger from several million to a few hundred folks? Way to make it tank worse than it is.

I can't honestly see any situation where this would have ended up being anything close to a reality. Nemesis was the last nail in the coffin for that era of Trek. Nobody was going to try and revitalize the series with those same aging actors four years later. Everyone in Hollywood from about 2003 going forward that tried to do anything with Trek was talking about doing a reboot of some sort.

 

That's the one where they fight the Son'a, right?

 

Was special effects technology at a level where what we see in Beyond could have feasibly been done?

 

Or if DS9 had gotten it's own movie:
- Sisko and Dax (either Jadzia or Ezri) together in the forest
- Kira and Bashir crash land in the alien ship
- O'Brien meets up with Jaylah
- Worf and Odo are taken prisoner by Krall

Or how about Voyager:
- Janeway and Seven together in the forest
- Chakotay and the EMH crash land in the alien ship
- Torres meets up with Jaylah
- Tuvok, Paris and Kim are taken prisoner by Krall
