Scimitar was the best, so dramatic and crazy.
I think it was one of the worst in all of Trek cinema, especially considering the technology available at the time of production. In one frame the ship is there and in the next it's totally gone, replaced with a death star ring and a plume of white smoke and sparks.

Just to refresh everyone's memory ... I still think that explosion was the best ...

odyssey got me misty eyed when I saw it happen, I mean, I KNOW they used a galaxy class for the emotional tug it would produce, and to establish strength for us, but, damn, that hurt to see the bug ram her neck like that.

I loved in Year of Hell were Voyager does its kamikaze crash. It looked really sweet!
Bye-Bye VOYAGER! see you in HELL! That's not fair, I shouldnt take my frustration out on a very well designed starship, I'm just bitter VGR wasn't a better show!:sigh:

I liked how the Odyssey was destroyed, very dramatic to see a 640m (probably wrong on that measurement) ship taken out by something the size of the Defiant.

The Enterprise being destroyed in star trek 3. The Defiant in Changing face of Evil. Ds9 the stations destruction in Visionary and the ships in Cause and Effect. The borg battle in Emmisary seeing the Saratoga's destruction. The Odyssey's being attacked by the Jem'hadar is chilling.

USS Odyssey.

I immediately though of the BOP in TUC, but thats because we've seen that explosion recycled on screen in the TV shows I think 3 or 4 times, but then going through the list I was reminded of the Odyssey and that one wins hands down.

Believe it or not, I think TOS was the most accurate in the regard of how a starship explosion would appear. A brilliant flash of light, like a flashbulb going off, as the antimatter meets the matter... then nothing.

^You're probably right, technically speaking.

It still always bugged me on TNG when they would superimpose the explosion, then remove the ship leaving the explosion to make it seem like they had blown up the model, and you could tell that was all they did. The exploding bird of prey in "Yesterday's Enterprise" comes to mind.

That was a really good one. :techman:

While this one is damned cool, it's always bothered me how the docking pylon stays so intact... by the end of an explosion of that size, it should have begun to fracture from the stress, damn it!

I suppose the station is SO big that it could have been fracturing but you couldn't see the detail; but I agree, the resulting debris is huge.
