Best part of Insurrection! Those Son'a bastards

Ethros

Vice Admiral

Just watching Insurrection again. Meh, it is what it is.
But I have to say my favourite part is when Enterprise-E is fighting the Son'a ships in the Briar Patch, and just after they throw the warp core in their faces, Riker says "We're through running from these bastards!"

:D
Oh man, I just love the way he says that for that some reason! I dunno, its just a really cool "kick ass" moment . I feel like someone else on the bridge is gonna shout out "yeah, lets go kick the shit out of those motherfuckers!"

Jog your memory Here, 8 mins 30 seconds in

Basically I was just watching it and felt like sharing it with y'all. Any agree it's a killer moment?

And if not, what would your fave part be of the film?

I must admit, while the movie is not my favorite and not my least favorite, I do enjoy Riker's attitude when he utters that line.

:rommie:

That was a great scene, but I also really liked Picards,"All right, I will!" line on the collector.

Odd thing about Insurrection, it didn't really feel like a Trek movie. I don't know what specifically it is, but there's is just a certain feel that the other Trek movies have that Insurrection doesn't. Anyone else notice that?

What I like even more about that scene is the look on Ensign Perim's face when Riker says his line. That's a look that just screams, "If we weren't in mortal peril right now, I'd do you right here on the floor." ;)

It never felt "epic" enough. All the other Trek movies felt like it was deserving enough as a movie (yes, that includes Nemesis). Insurrection didn't have that grand-scale feel to it. It was decent on its own, but not up to "movie standards."

It's a cool line, in an otherwise average-unremarkable sequenee IMO. I thought the Briar Patch, while initially interesting, was not such a great backdrop--although it did make for interesting 'reveals' it was too 'dirty' that it lacked the cool contrast of the Mutara Nebula.

And that joystick thing, yes groan I had to bring it up, just makes the whole thing silly.

Plus compared to what we had seen in FC, the E-E kicking butt with quantum torpedoes, this one wasn't such a great followup--although it had a hard act to follow.

But it was still an interesting part of the film, rather exciting at times.

Yeah the old Manual control column, i think it was more to do with a obvious tie in to the game that was also in production at the time, Hidden evil, in which the enterprise return to the Ba'ku planet.

Still i can overlook it because the films very watchable.

If I had to pick one, it would be Picard, Data, and Worf singing. I love that part! There are so many awesome moments in this movie, that's why it's my favorite one!

Also, Riker's "Smooth as an android's bottom" comment and Data's disagreement when he checks to see if it is. ROFLMAO!

That was clear - I thought that was a great little addition to the movie.

I like the entire Battle of the Briar Patch though.

Well the Enterprise couldn't kick ass because it hadn't been outfitted for the region and the Sona ships had.

I quite like Insurrection, I saw it at the cinema and wasn't disappointed. I liked the "Eject the core", "I already have" moment.

I loved INS, it was wonderful in the theater and on disk. However, I felt a little cheated in the core ejection scene. My buddy had told me that they did that in the movie, and I was so looking forward to seeing that thing just get whisked out of the engineering room and into space. But no, instead all I saw was a really small, really long rod-like silhouette tumbling end over end toward a wall of white. A little disappointing. They made up for it though when we saw Riker execute the Riker manuever and the debris from that one Son'a battleship slams into the other one and splits it in two. That was cool. :D

Didn't Odo do a similar maneuver on DS9, can't remember the name of the episode but it was a Season one ep where a bloke claimed to know of Changelings and had a Changeling key.

Quick check on Wikipedia, Vortex, was 12th ep in season 1; but there you go, it should be called the Odo Maneuver!

I think what I like about the "bastards" line, is that its always quiet jarring to hear swearing in Star Trek. So when its used in such a moment, it definitely gives the scene a lot more 'umph'

The only thing about the warp core thing thats annoying, is at the end of the film Picard says goodbye to the Baku, beams up to Enterprise and flies off, cue end credits... except without a warpcore it's gonna be a long trip mate!

There was a line cut from the film (because it led right into the infamous Quark cameo) where Worf tells Picard that the starship Ticonderoga is in orbit, presumably to tow the Enterprise to the nearest starbase.
