"Best of Spock" Episodes

In honor of Mr. Nimoy, I'm already thinking of what I'll put on for a 12 hour "Best of Spock Marathon" to celebrate his work and the Spock Character's place in history and my overall life.

I'm thinking...

The Naked Time
The Menagerie (2 parts)
The Galileo Seven
This Side of Paradise
Amok Time
Mirror Mirror
Journey to Babel
Spock's Brain (no, seriously)
Is There in Truth No Beauty
The Tholian Web
All Our Yesterdays

I'll cap it with Star Trek's II, III and IV if I'm not burnt out after all that.

Anyone else in? What would be your alternate choices for showcasing his talent and the character's importance?

That's a great list. I'm not thinking clearly enough to mull over possible additions right now, though.

edit - One just popped into my head, though:

"Where No Man Has Gone Before"

Even if the movie wasn't great he had an important role in TMP too.

"This Side of Paradise," hand's down. I love "Amok Time," but for sheer range of emotion and heart-breaking denouement -- "This Side of Paradise." That's an actor's show.

BUT I am going to look up his "Twilight Zone" episode, if such exists, and get his books from the library (again).

"The Enterprise Incident" is one of the best Spock episodes ever.

I'd add "The Devil in the Dark," "Operation: Annihilate," "The Doomsday Machine," and "The Deadly Years" as excellent Spock episodes. And bad as it is in other ways, "The Way to Eden" shows a different side of Spock than we get in most episodes.

Spock isn't actually IN "Spock's Brain" very much, except as the brainless husk controlled by that little gizmo.

I'm not feeling very rational and Spocklike at the moment, though; I'm feeling so emotional that I want to say ALL OF THEM.

IMHO, TMP is his best performance as the character.

Don't forget Mission Impossible, he's been in quite a few.

I actually watched Spock's Brain again yesterday, an episode I haven't seen in many years. I forgot how awful the whole idea was, especially the dialogue early in the episode.

Still, I saw it from a different perspective now that Leonard is gone and I appreciate it more now than ever, even with all its faults.

I did like the one line: "Givers of Pain and Delight." That's about as simple and accurate a description of a woman that I think I've ever heard. :rommie:

"The Corbomite Maneuver" should probably be included, simply for director Joseph Sargent giving Nimoy a clue to Spock with a suggestion on how to say "fascinating".

And "The Apple", just to hear Spock say the hilarious: "Your tricorder readings are totally inefficient!"

All great choices listed. I would add The Trouble with Tribbles, A Piece of the Action, and I, Mudd. Nimoy delivered the comedy in a way that didn't betray the Vulcan.

This Side of Paradise is such a great episode. The first great Kirk-v-stagnation/utopia ep. And Spock's heartrending speech to Leila near the end ... and how he was actually happy for once. Wow.

One of the examples of S1 being so fine, as I've been absorbing in another thread.

We watched Amok last night. We'll do Paradise tonight.
