The best that comes to mind is Gary Lockwood from Where No Man Has Gone Before. Really believable as a Kirks friend and as a newly found god.

William WIndom (edit) playing Decker in The Doomsday Machine I thought was pretty good too.

Ricardo montalban as Khan goes without saying. He really stole the show.

William Windom played Decker and he was hands down the guest actor that left the most lasting impression. C'mon tell me you don't get choked up hearing "there was....but not any more", the subtleties such as rubbing his shoulder after getting the hypo, the Queegesque fidgitting with the computer discs. He nailed it.

There are soooo many to choose from, but my favorite female guest star is the beautiful Jan Shutan as Lt. Mira Romaine, and as for the gents I really like Stanley Adams as lovable Cyrano Jones!

Robert Ryan playing Decker in The Doomsday Machine I thought was pretty good too.

"Although Ryan never appeared in any production of Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek, he was originally considered for the role of Commodore Matt Decker in the 1967 episode 'The Doomsday Machine.' Episode author Norman Spinrad reportedly had written the script with Ryan in mind to play Commodore Decker, but Ryan was unavailable, owing to prior commitments. That role subsequently went to William Windom."

I always liked William Windom as an actor, and I felt great sympathy for the character of Matt Decker as he sat in shock and mourning on the Constellation. Once he stepped onto the bridge of the Enterprise he became a complete turd IMO. Still, a very memorable character. For those who remember, Matt Decker was the father of Capt. Will Decker from STTMP.

Dagnamit! Yes, obviously Mark Lenard is right up there near the top. In terms of lasting impact, still have to give it to Windom. YMMV.

For some reason I always imagine Koloth doing stand-up comedy in some Klingon night club! Don't ask me why. :guffaw:

Here he is doing some real, comedy jokes....

It was mentioned in the book yes but not in the actual film unfortunately! So I wonder if it is...canon?
