Best games for the atari 2600?

Atari 2600 was so great. I have a couple in the closet. I got them out a couple years ago and unfortunately my wife and I found the games to be very boring after about a half hour of rummaging through a giant pile of atari carts. The games just don't hold up and are very repetitive now. :(

Talking of comics, what were those games that included booklets with a real, ongoing, arc-heavy comic series?

Oh, and my vote for the *weirdest* 2600 games: the SwordQuest series (EarthWorld, FireWorld, WaterWorld)
The Swordquest series was the series with the comics packed in with them. Those games were awesome - and also one of the more annoying things Atari ever did. They were part of a contest with some really cool prizes.

I say annoying because I bought EarthWorld and FireWorld from a Revco for 50 cents each, and beat EarthWorld pretty quickly. "Quest for tower, talisman found." Then discovered that the games were in the discontinued bin because the contest had already been held.

I want that Sword, dammit! Or at least, I'd like to see it. They could have it show up on Chuck if it gets renewed - that and some beauty shots of it on the 'net would be more than good enough.

Poor choice of phrasing on my part. I didn't mean the SwordQuest comics (I actually forgot they had them), I meant the ones that were more sci-fi in nature. The characters worked for the "Atari Institute", and I remember one of them started out as a villain but turns out she was working undercover (breaking into the corporation's systems to test its security).

Some photos of the Swordquest prizes, including the Chalice and the Sword, are at this site. Apparently they were found in a shoebox of old Atari games, and the original photographer is unknown.

Stargate and Solaris were the best. Solaris could be beaten if you knew how to combat those nasty "Cobra" ships, and you encounter a load of them before reaching Solaris.

You were able to reach Solaris? I spent many hours playing that game and I could never beat it. What happens at the end?
