Hello. Gart_Rockket gave me permission to use his concept and find the best episode of Trek rather than the worse.

Season 1 of TNG was often considered among the worst overall of Trek. But what was the shining moment?

Conspiracy for being different. Honorable mentions go to Where No Man Has Gone Before and 11001001.

Apart from those, this really is the worst season in all of Trek, IMHO. What the hell were they thinking?

I voted for Conspiracy because it's the most daring of all the eps. We got to see Picard and co. face a menacing threat to the Federation, and we got to see other starship captains, and I wished we'd seen more of Rixx and Scott.

I did consider voting for Heart of Glory, The Long Goodbye, The Battle, or The Arsenal of Freedom, before picking Conspiracy.

I disagree 100%

I find it in some ways the best of Modern Trek - like TOS-lite, S3 still had some resemblance to TOS as well and better stories, after that MT was Bermanized

Oddly, I kind of liked The Arsenal of Freedom.
What's odd about liking "The Arsenal of Freedom"? I considered voting for it myself, but I decided to go with "11001001". Personally, I don't get why "Conspiracy" is getting so much love. It was a good ep, but it wasn't that remarkable.

"The Battle" is my favorite among the TNG season 1 episodes.

A good exciting episode overall and Daimon Bok is a good villain.

Other episodes on my top 5 list are:
Conspiracy
Hide And Q
11001001
The Last Outpost

When I started watching TNG once upon a time, I was a little dissapointed. After watching some TOS movies, I expected more. "Is that all there is?" was my reflecton back then. Still, I did find the series highly enjoyable and it became even better later on.

I have re-watched season 1 some times since then and it's actually better than I first thought. A very good season indeed even if I do consider some of the other seasons, especially 5 and 6 better.

Conspirary since it was interesting.

The other best ones in my list are: 11001001, Where No One Has Gone Before, The Naked Now, Datalore, The Batte, and The Arsenal of Freedom

I voted for Arsenal of Freedom. It's funny, it's clever, and the three strands all work well individually, and cohere into a well-paced story. It's possibly the first time in S1 when we saw the crew being thoroughly competent at their jobs, too.

Conspiracy was a very interesting concept, but it really went no where. Plus, I always thought that it was needlessly graphic. When I first saw it, many years after it originally aired, I thought I was watching Star Trek: Alien. I've often wondered how many families thought they were getting a harmless episode of Star Trek: TNG, on a Saturday afternoon, only to have their kids freak out after Remmick's head explodes.
