Best DVD / Blu-ray extra

What in your opinion has been the best extra ever added to a Star Trek DVD/Blu-Ray?

I've been working through the TNG Blu-rays and have been impressed by some of the extras on there and wondered what other joys I've yet to experience. So far the ones I've particularly enjoyed have been the Writers' room feature with Brannon Braga, Rene Echevarria, Naren Shankar and Ronald D. Moore hosted by Seth McFarlane, and the TNG reunion.

I love all of the blu-ray bonus features for Star Trek (2009)! Watching all the behind-the-scenes stuff from the first to the last one gives you an almost chronological three and a half hour making-of from concept phase to the filming and post production. I think many people who have kind of "personal" problems with Abrams, Orci, Kurtzman & co would think a lot better about them had they seen those extras.

Bonus features which were produced by Bad Robot are generally quite good. The "enhanced commentary" for "Star Trek Into Darkness" is great, especially the part about the editing. I never thought much about that theme before that commentary.

A very entertaining bonus on a TNG DVD/Blu-ray (for season 7?) was a tour through the costume warehouse with Mirina Sirtis. And of course the Okudas camcorder tour of the TNG sets that was included to the season 7 blu-rays was a nostalgic look behind the scenes.

The reunion of the TNG and ETP cast for the respective season 2 blu-rays were also very nice. Overall the bonus features for the blu-rays of that two series are interesting but almost all after a certain pattern. So they got a bit lengthy.

I remember I also liked the "Life beyond Trek" features about Shatner and Nimoy. They were produced for the TOS DVDs but are also on the Blu-rays.

Nice gimmicks are the interactiv exterior views of the orignal Enterprise included in the TOS season 1 blu-ray set (and HD-DVD) and of the new Enterprise and the Narada on the 2009 movie bonus disc.

And of course the TNG and ETP gag reels! :-D (They are funnier in the early seasons.)

Since the OP mentioned DVD in addition to Blu Ray, I would vote for the deleted scenes on the "Star Trek Nemesis" DVD release (not sure if the Blu Ray release featured any deleted scenes or not). The deleted scenes vastly improve the film, and feature a much more fitting ending scene.

I've been wondering which TNG set to buy. Is it safe to say that Blu Ray is the best? I haven't done any kind of analysis of DVD vs Blu Ray. Things I am looking for would be complete episodes w/deleted scenes (like in Measure of a Man) and bloopers/outtakes. When I bought my MASH dvd sets years ago, I was amazed by all the scenes that have been cut out of the versions that get played on TV.

Im a big fan of the TNG/ENT cast reunion extras on the bluray, as well as the TNG writers room roundtables on the TNG season 3 set. I found myself smiling at some of the stories and jokes they were telling during these round table interviews.

That being said, I did watch one extra on the enterprise season 2 blu rays that really deserves a mention. It's the behind the scenes feature "The making of the episode "future tense"". It offered a rare look at how trek episodes get made. It's definitely worth a look if you are interested in seeing the TV show production process worked (back then anyways.)
