Best Cosplay Props

Looking to put together a TOS uniform with phaser and communicator. Which versions of these things are the most accurate?

They are expensive and functional (as TV remote and Bluetooth speaker, respectively), but the phaser and communicator sold by The Wand Company has to be the answer here. More affordable and pretty good are the versions made by Diamond Select.

For "cosplay", I'd opt for the "Diamond Select" (formerly produced by Art Asylum) props. "Cosplay" suggests a fair amount of "performance" and that increases the odds of damaging the pieces. At least you will not have lost as much money if they do get "busted". (The Wand Company devices each run around 150 dollars.) Now, if you recording a fan film, The Wand Company "field gear" would be ideal for the isolated "hero prop" closeup, but for wider and distant shots, I'd swap to the Diamond Select hardware or maybe even the "Ruby" Costume Co. brand phaser repainted. It runs only 10 to 15 bucks. Ruby doesn't offer a communicator and so far you're limited to Diamond Select for a tricorder as neither Ruby nor Wand offer that.

Just my crappy "two cents".
