BEN: What did he tell you
JACK: He told me... after I left... some very bad things happened...

BEN: Did he tell you I was off the island?
JACK: Yes he did

Both from the last scene of Season 4. As anyone who watched "Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham" knows, neither happened. Mistakes are bound to happen with a story as labyrinth as LOST but this seems excessively sloppy.

or are there more Bentham/Jack meetings in between that scene and the Ben/Locke scene?

another theory is that the writers realized Jack blowing off "very bad things happened to everyone left behind" would make him look like too much of an a-hole so they just left it out?

I think this was not their only meeting....

But it did seem like most of Lockes facial injuries had healed by the time he strung himself up. So they could have met again.

I don't think they showed Jack leaving Locke's room so they could have talked a bit more then.

Re: Bentham/Locke meets Jack: Did the writers f up? (spoilers up to 5x

Didn't they say that Bentham visited all of them multiple times?

Re: Bentham/Locke meets Jack: Did the writers f up? (spoilers up to 5x

really? I dont recall that, when did they say that?

Re: Bentham/Locke meets Jack: Did the writers f up? (spoilers up to 5x

There are a number of discontinuities between "There's No Place Like Home" and "The Life of Jeremy Bentham":

Walt refers to Locke as "Jeremy Bentham" in TNPLH, but when we see them meeting in tLoJB, Locke never uses that name.

In TNPLH, Jack says that Locke told him that Ben was off the Island, but we never see him say that in tLoJB.

Also in TNPLH, Jack says that Locke visited him about a month ago. We also see that Jack had been flying across the Pacific in hopes of the plane crashing for some time, yet tLoJB makes it seem as though Locke went right from pleading with Jack in the hospital, to doing the attempted suicide that led to Ben killing him. How long could Locke's body have been on ice before the funeral parlor scene in TNPLH? No way could that have taken a month.

We don't know how much time elapsed between the scenes in "Bentham", it could have been hours or weeks. I think it seemed like it happened all at once because it was all in one episode with no transitions, but in reality it took place over a stretch of time.

Well, I'll give Walt a break because he's special. He might have known through some other means.

I'm curious what "special" means. So far everyone that's been referred to as "special", aside from Walt, has traveled through time at some point. Does the simple act of traveling through time and "surviving" make you special?

Re: Bentham/Locke meets Jack: Did the writers f up? (spoilers up to 5x

By "special", I mean he's psychic and and can summon birds.

Re: Bentham/Locke meets Jack: Did the writers f up? (spoilers up to 5x

We all know the only reason he was named Jeremy Bentham was to prolong the suspense for Season 4. There was really no reason to change his name.

Re: Bentham/Locke meets Jack: Did the writers f up? (spoilers up to 5x

It was a codename to hide from Widmore! Err... ;) Well he can't go around claiming he's John Locke from Oceanic Flight 815, it would raise too many questions. He has to lie about his identity to preserve the Oceanic Six's lie.

Didn't Locke still have bruises from the car crash when he tried to kill himself? Anyway, if it was weeks, then what was he doing during that time? How do you explain Ben telling him that Jack just started flying across the Pacific, when other eps made it sound like he'd been at it for quite some time by the time Locke died?

Re: Bentham/Locke meets Jack: Did the writers f up? (spoilers up to 5x

Well he had to fly around the US to visit all the people. So you gotta figure at least day 1 visit A, day 2 travel, day 3 visit B, day 4 travel, etc. I don't recall the continuity of the bruises.

Re: Bentham/Locke meets Jack: Did the writers f up? (spoilers up to 5x

Watching a second time I could see he still had the healing wounds on his head. But I think there had to be a week at least between the hospital scene and the hanging scene if only because it was a hard accident.

Jack was the last person he visited though. I'm saying, did he try to kill himself more or less immediately after visiting Jack, or not? If not, then what did he do after he visited Jack?

Re: Bentham/Locke meets Jack: Did the writers f up? (spoilers up to 5x

Disney Land! :D There's lots to do in LA and he was stranded on the Island all that time. There was also that week of nuthin' but coke and whores...
