Well that settles it. He is really playing John Harrison.

He’s got an extraordinary purpose, and I hope that at one point or other in the film you might even sympathize with the reasons he’s doing what he’s doing — not necessarily the means and the destruction he causes. But it was a great ride, not just because he’s the bad guy and the antagonist but also because he has a purpose and it’s hard not to see his point of view at certain points.”

Anyone else excited to know he is NOT playing Khan?!

Neither words nor all the emoticons on the web cannot express the sense of JOY I feel at them doing the right thing and going with an ORIGINAL character. Of course it still remains to be seen if the story is any good but I have a VERY good feeling about this.

He has never actually said "I'm not Khan". He said "I'm not that other name" which might refer to Mitchell.

He khan't say if he is Khan.

Regardless of whether it is or not Khan, what Cumberbatch did was a "non-denial denial." Whoever he's playing, he's been instructed not to give a direct answer - and he didn't give a direct answer.

Of course he's not playing Khan, because Khan could only be played by Ricardo Montalban. I'm really sorry you all are sick of hearing the name, but Montalban did one helluva performance and you can't take that away from him.

I personally don't care who the villian is as long as the plot is solid. I would like a little more detailed trailer, please. Something with some dialogue and not a voice over.

It doesn't matter what people think of Montalban's performance; the part can and will be recast if it hasn't already been.

The argument is, after all, no more valid than claims that only Leonard Nimoy could play Spock. :cool:

I Khan't stand all these Khan puns!

The way he describes his character makes me even more anticipatory of the movie. Hopefully this villain will have a little more depth than the last one. I don't really care who he actually is. I'd prefer a completely new character but I'm fine with Khan, Mitchell, or anyone really.

Their headline does not appear to match anything he actually said.

Could someone point me to the part where he says "I am not playing Khan."?

This whole John Harison thing is a big Red Herring, so they could give him a name to use until we find out who he actually is when the movie comes out!
