Being Human to R1 DVD/Blu-Ray

TV Shows on DVD is reporting that Being Human is coming to Blu-Ray and DVD in Region 1 on July 20:

Nice to see there's a Blu-Ray version. So why isn't the BBC doing a Blu-Ray for Merlin Season 1 as well? (From what I hear, it was shot in HD ). Anyway, I've been wanting to see this show for awhile so it's on my to-get list.

According to someone on the Merlin/Xena/Hercules thread, Merlin is shot in HD and also airs on BBC HD.

Even if the poster's first point is incorrect, you'd think if the second were possible, then a Blu-Ray upconvert is possible. (And as I mentioned in that other thread, BBC Video set precedent for better or for worse by upconverting the SD-produced Doctor Who Christmas Special.)

Merlin isn't shot in HD and isn't shown on BBC HD. BBC won't show anything on BBC HD that doesn't include at least 75% HD originated content.
Just play DVDs on your Blu-ray player and it'll do the upconverting for you.
