Being Human - BBC Three

Bob The Skutter

Complete Arse Cleft
In Memoriam
Since I didn't think to put a Phoo Action thread up until well after the show last week, I decided I'd put a Discussion and grading thread up for Being Human early.

It's on BBC Three Tonight 9pm, and repeated Wed. 20th 10:50pm, Sun. 24th 10pm and Mon. 25th at 1:45am.
Also, it'll be up on iPlayer, tonight after it airs.

Contemporary supernatural drama about George and Mitchell, a pair of perennial outsiders. Working in the anonymous drudgery of the local hospital, they live lives of quiet desperation - because Mitchell is a vampire and George is a werewolf. Deciding to turn over a new leaf, they move into a house together, only to find that it is haunted by Annie, the ghost of a woman killed in mysterious circumstances. As a threesome, they deal with the challenges of being supernatural creatures, bonded by their desire to adopt the lifestyle of their neighbours - humanity.

Well I thought that was very good. It was a lot more serious than I expected, since it was being billed as a comedy, but I really enjoyed it.
I hope this one gets picked up too.

It was O.K. The vampire plot felt like a rehash of things like Blade and Underworld, all stuff we've seen before, same with all the warewolf shinanigans.

I quite liked the characters and did enjoy the pub scene at the end that showed they had potential.

Whilst it wasnt outstanding it was a better than a few which went on to be great series.

Sounds like my type of show, too bad I can't watch it on the website because I'm not in the UK. Seriously is Australia the only country that lets anyone in the world watch their content without international restrictions?

**annoyed**

I don't usually go for vampire and werewolf stuff, but I really enjoyed this. In fact, I think I'm going to have to watch it again. :)

Excellent. If it went to series I'd definitely watch it.

Perhaps you can find it the other way?

I really enjoyed it. It was amusing, edgy and had a genuine thriller moment. The principals were a bit like the Odd Couple with a modern twist. The dark potential was hinted at towards the end, which reminded me strongly of Ultraviolet. Very good casting and a very good script.

I had a look but no such luck yet.

If you were still interested, I've seen it appear around today.

Finally saw it.

From the adverts I thought it was going to be a crappy sitcom.

But it was excellent, and not as advertised.

^I know what you mean, I expected it to very much a comedy, and was pleasantly surprised to find it to be actually more of a drama with humour.

I just thought I'd post an update. Being Human has been commissioned for a 6 part series.

From Digital Spy
BBC Three has ordered a six-part series of werewolf drama Being Human.

A pilot of the comedic show - in which a werewolf, vampire and ghost share a flat - performed well for the channel in February.

Filming with stars Russell Tovey, Andrea Riseborough and Guy Flanaghan will start later this year for transmission in 2009.
