Rush is back!

Confirmed in an interview with Alex Lifeson in the Globe and Mail....

"We were off for a year and a half, and now it's just pouring. Everything is totally crazy and there's not a minute left in the day. We've got these half-dozen songs, and we'll probably go in the studio and work on a couple of them and see how it goes, perhaps release something – and I say perhaps – and then we plan on being on the road in the middle of June. Ideally, we'd like to showcase a couple of these songs on the tour, come off tour in mid-October, go back in the studio and continue writing, then record through late this year and early next year, and then release the album in the spring of 2011 on a slightly more substantial tour. This year's tour will probably be about 45 dates. Most likely summer, 2011, would be more like 70."

So it looks like two tours and a new album over the next year and a half. The website Rush is a Band had started to leak some possible dates, including two in Northern California. These are just rumored at this point, but RIAB was pretty dead-on with advance information for the Snakes and Arrows Tour.

Another band that just never quits, which is good. As long as they still enjoy it and put out good stuff, which they do. I've loved every phase of their career, the heavy, the synth., the latter day stuff.

The Scorpions just released their "retirement" album, but will still be touring for a couple years behind it. They started a couple years before Rush, at least as far as their first album's release date goes.

Me too.

Snakes and Arrows
was a great album, and a great tour. We saw three shows last time around.

Pardon the bump, but just wanted to say that the tour is now official.

I knew you'd beat me to it, posting this. :D

Tickets at my venue aren't available yet, but it isn't until Aug 29. There is still time... for now

YES YES YES!!!! Tour begins in Albuquerque!!!!!!

Ticket presale on livenation - April 15th.. I'm going to be out of town at a training class that day.. Grrr.. I hate to leave the ticket buying up to my wife in that she is notoriously bad at it..

Who's making the road trip for the tour opener?? And where the hell is Dark Helmet? He needs to be in on this...

I thought of you when I saw that.

If we travel for this tour, it'll be to Vegas. We'll hit San Francisco for sure.

How about Moving Pictures in its entirety?!?!

Camera Eye!!!

Cannot tell you how much that's gonna mean to me.. The ONE song I've always wanted live.. Getting giddy goose bumps just thinking about it.. There had better not be any frickin' forest fires that day...

Realized today that the Iron Maiden show here falls on my anniversary.. Wife is not a Maiden fan.. Decisions decisions..

Dam so far the only Canadian dates are
July 9 at Sarnia's Bayfest
July 13 at Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre
July 15 at Quebec City's Festival d'ete and
July 17 at Toronto's Air Canada Centre.

I hope they come west in Canada.

I'm sure they will.. Can't wait to hear the new stuff.. I loved Snakes and Arrows but found something a bit lacking.. There was just something missing.. I kind of miss the Presto/Roll the Bones sound.

Don't get me wrong.. I love the harder, more metal sound, but there's something I just can't put my finger on.. Maybe it's the complete lack of synth.. Hmmmm...

The best part of this.... after hearing what an incredible time my two sons & I had at the Snakes & Arrows show, now my daughter (age 15) wants to go with us to THIS show!!

Anybody know where I can get good rates on a 3rd mortgage so i can afford these tickets? :vulcan:

Yeah, with all of Moving Pictures being played, they won't be cheap. I think some venues are starting to list prices. I saw $125 top tickets for somewhere.

I like the 80's Rush the best. Permanent Waves through Hold Your Fire. I'd like to hear Manhattan Project, Distant Early Warning, Analog Kid, New World Man...stuff like that. Presto and Prime Mover would be real treats too.

I can't believe they don't have a date for Phoenix! Guess I have an excuse to go to Vegas.

They're opening the tour in Albuquerque. That's pretty close...about 6 hours drive or so??

:techman:

There are supposedly more dates being announced, but I think the west is pretty well covered.

Anyway, just to wet your whistle a bit, here the World's Greatest Band playing La Villa Strangiato live in Rio De Janero

I bet they'll get to Phoenix.. They didn't do ABQ on Snakes and Arrows until the second leg of the tour. So I bet this will be the case for AZ..

Yeah, that Music Today pre-sale was a total clusterfuck. No announcement or anything.

I'm glad you got good seats. I'll try that VIP Package though when the time comes. Tickets for my show don't go on sale until 4/27.
