Is anyone reading before dishonor yet I cant wait to see what people thinks of it. I just finished my copy a few mins ago.. and it was amazing. 5 stars

The best part of the review...
I can say that this novel is a sequel to David's earlier classic Vendetta, and the Borg are back and more terrifying than ever. The author has accomplished what I thought was impossible: making an overused villain relevant and exciting again.

Good news indeed. :D

The last time I checked Barnes & Noble, they didn't have it. Hopefully it will be there the next time I go over.

Wow, it didn't realize we'd gotten that far into the month already. I'm gonna have to remember to keep an eye out for it when I go shopping next.
How exactly is it a sequel to Vendetta? Because if it's events play an important role in the story I'm going want to try track down a copy of it. I know that books fill in the important facts from previous stories, but I still like to have read said story so I can completely understand what they are talking about.

So I guess I should read Vendetta before I read this. Speaking of which, would anyone recommend that I read the Peter David Q books before I read Q&A?

They're awesome books, and I highly recommend them in general; but they're not at all necessary for or urgently relevant to Q&A. So I'd say no, you don't need to read them first.

No sign of Before Dishonor here in Providence, RI.

I don't know how much it really means in terms of popularity but, Before Dishonor is actually up to #421 in the entire books section of Amazon.com, which puts it at #17 in general sci-fi/fantasy. All I know is it's the highest I've seen a Trek book get in quite some time.

Neither is really necessary. Speaking specifically about Q & A, the Q episodes are of more import than the fiction -- either way, the book fills in what you need to know....

Sequel or not, I would recommend this anyway. Vendetta is an awesome book. I wonder if Delcara and her planet-killer gizmo make a comeback?

I can't wait to read this book now too. I guess I will be on the look out for it myself. This is the last TNG book for the year, besides Slings and Arrows right? I read Slings and Arrows on friday night and it was pretty good. Kind of made me think it was a short book through.

^ The eBooks are all novella length. That's why we're able to cram so many into the print compilations. :)

That is what I was hoping for.

I phoned my comic and SF shop today and was told that maybe they will get the book this Friday.

I can`t wait! :)

Might be pushing it if there were a third long-lost device! It's great to read Vendetta now anyway, to look at it with hindsight. Long before First Contact and Voyager, it had a female Borg, an attempt to reintegrate a "rescued" Borg into humanity, the Borg trying to make deals to fight a superior foe (before Scorpion), an obsessed El-Aurian before Generations...

Vendetta was fantastic, and Peter David so called some of the Borg stuff. And it really wouldn't take a whole lot to retcon it in with what we know about the Borg.

The main thing I can see is that Reannon is a blank slate in the book, whereas the Borg reacquire their own personality upon separation from the Collective in TNG and Voyager. But I seem to remember Deanna saying that Reannon was severly traumatized by her experience, which could explain her reaction. Poor Reannon.
Also, I know that it's wrong, but I can't help picturing Ariel from The Buried Age as looking a lot like Guinan's sister (can't remember her name right now). I'm not sure why that is, but Ariel gave me the same vibe. (At first, anyways. :D)

I can't wait for Before Dishonor.

Delcara was carefully described as Guinan's "soul sister", not a blood relative. IIRC, Richard Arnold suggested she shouldn't be actually related to Guinan. In fact, was Delcara even an El-Aurian, or just a long-lived alien who'd long ago made her home with El-Aurians?
