Beer Subterfuge

This is weird...we got an 18 pack of Icehouse beer this weekend (went for cheap instead of for taste) and after reaching in and grabbing one imagine my surprise when what came out of the box was...a MILLER LITE!

Well, I know breweries do multiple varieties and brands in the same facilities but I'd never gotten a different brand out of a pack of either soda or beer before! Weird!

What is more weird is that you would willing drink (and pay for) Icehouse.

They are both complete piss as far as beers go, but that's still a total mindfuck.

Looks like just the one, somewhere in the middle of the pack. It tasted different from the other beers as well. (They all sucked...that one just sucked differently.)

I've ended up with a completely empty (yet sealed) can more than once, but have never gotten an entirely different brand in a case before.

I'm assuming it was a closed box that they were kept in, which in that case is totally weird and neat.

Sometimes when I am looking at 6-packs of Smirnoff Ice the flavors will be all mixed up because someone went through and switched them. But that's only possible because they are just sitting in the open cardboard carrier and anyone could easily take one out (I wonder how often they just steal them...seems like bad packaging).

Spot's Meow: A closed box it was indeed. So much so that I cursed and cursed the makers of the glue that kept the box from being opened for about 12 minutes (no joke...the glue was freakishly strong for a beverage box).

Agreed. Life is too short to drink cheap beer.

Couldn't agree more on the cheap beer thing...it was NOT a rewarding experience. It was the only thing with a bit of "kick" (5.5 alcohol) available on the way home.

I'd've gladly gone for Molson XXX were it a handy option...a mid-beer (midway between a pale ale and a dark lager) with a rich taste and and a premium 7.3% alcohol content--a nice kick to it). But it was unexpected company and they didn't seem to have a problem with it. Plus everyone laughed when I freaked about the stray Miller Lite can!
