For any Beatle-maniacs out there: the long-rumored/hoped for remastered albums will be released on 09/09/09 (heh) alongside the Beatles Rockband Videogame. In brief:
13 remastered (not remixed) stereo albums (Magical Mystery Tour will be in its album, not EP form) plus the Past Masters non-album/alternate tracks (now a double album). Available individually or as a box set. Will include upgraded packaging and mini-documentaries.
For the hardcore, there will also be a box set of mono mixes: 10 albums, Past Masters tracks, and a couple alternate stereo mixes (Help! and Rubber Soul)
CD only. No word on iTunes or other downloadable delivery.
More info here and here.
Looks like a talented and Beatles-knowledgeable team worked on the project, but apparently no deep involvement by the surviving Beatles, George Martin, or any original recording engineers (e.g. Geoff Emerick).
