BBC's online video-viewing restrictions not in place anymore?

This is weird. I'm able to view video on the official website now. :wtf: Did the policy change?

What are you viewing? Some videos were already available, mainly on the BBC news site.

ETA: Ah, I see. I can watch the trailer and the new stuff but not the vids about the old show. Weird.

I think because the UK and US are now going to show Docter Who on the same day:

So therefore there is no reason to hold back material on the new series (to US veiwers) since BBC AM also shows the past 5 seasons as well. BBC and BBC AM are pretty much in sync with all new series stuff.

There are still licensing issues about who shows the classic series in the US so that is why classic stuff is still restricted, as stange as it sounds. If a network here in the US wants the rights to show classic Who they may not pay as much if they knew there was a lot of online videos available free to US veiwers. Its all about the money. :)

I'm not in the US, though. But it's possible that someone owns the right to show the classic series here. Apparently, it was shown here in the 90s. However, the first two series of the new show were also shown here but maybe the rights have reverted or something like that.

I did go on the site the last night and only the 11th doctor stuff seems to be non restricted, the 9th and 10th doctor stuff is still blocked to me.
