BBC getting complaints over ending of Time of Angels (poss SPOILERS)

Re: BBC getting complaints over ending of Time of Angels (poss SPOILER

Yes, good for the BBC for admitting their mistake. I doubt you'd get that sort of response from an American network.

On another note, So thats Graham Norton is it? Good God, I think I could handle about ten seconds of that guy before I had to switch it off. Nails on a chalkboard.

Well, it didnt happen this week.

Its graet that the BBC actually admitted this mistake. But to be honest, i thought they were trying to do what the American chanels do and plug a show in the middle beginning or end of the one showing. ITV have also started doing this annoying thing, we were watching The Prisoner on saturday and just as it was ending, i was distracted by the animated advert in the corner.

Its so off putting, and at the end of Time of Angels it just took all the emotion/drive/action out of that scene.

there's an apology in this week's RT. they said it was shown 20 seconds early, it should've been on the end credits which would have meant them not scrunching the credits, another bugbear.

that bugs the hell out of me also.

Why do they feel the need to screw up a decent theme tunes, with the middle 8 bar chorus of the theme and edit over it some twat advertising some show or something.

Also, has anyone notice that the end theme has been edited and it only has the opening and the closing, and no middle themes?

The BBC have responded well so let's hope that's the end of it, for Doctor Who at least. If we're lucky they'll keep it off all drama. I would rather they kept it off all shows 100% and stopped following the lead of other broadcasters. We like that our BBC is different! I don't think we will be lucky as they still seem obsessed with squeezing credits and such like, but at least the worst possible type of this thing has been fended off.

Thanks to 23skioo for opening the thread and registering a complaint. (Just to put things in context - in the past the BBC have used the appearance of a coordinated campaign of complaint from interest groups as reason to dismiss complaints. Especially when the complainers hadn't actually seen the offending programme. But thanks to you! You're obviously a keen fan and right minded sort of person. Cheers.)

I don't buy the "we accidentally played it 20 secs early" excuse for a minute. They must think we're fools. But it doesn't matter. As long as they remain wary about this sort of thing I don't care how they try and excuse themselves.

part of the RT apology said it won't play over dramas like that again, but it will on entertainment shows.

I know I've said it before, but just wanted to repeat how lucky you folks in the UK are. On most of our cable channels we have these little bastards tapdancing across our tv screens every five minutes. So you guys have fight this before you end up like us.
