Battlefield: Bad Company

Got this yesterday for the 360 and may I just say: OH MY GODS. This game kicks ass. It's would seem that blowing just about everything up would get old quick but it just doesn't! I can't tell you how many times I've jump out of my couch because of either the wall blowing up next to me or a tank round coming out of seemingly nowhere. And the sound just makes it all work so great.

Let me put it this way: my brother got Super Smash Bros Brawl yesterday. We've play Bad Company more by far.

So anyone else get this game by the now official action masters of Sweden, DICE?

I heard all kinds of things good about this game. I work with a guy whose wife works at Gamestop and she told that he played the game and loved it. She said it was almost as good as COD 4. I'm going to pick up a copy when it gets on the used shelf. I never buy games brand new.

The single player is a bit iffy and I wish the story was stronger.
The multiplayer plays like a BF game, but simplified (no prone and no parachutes for example). Thankfully they're launching a new game mode soon, and we can get away from the Gold Rush mode for a while.
But yeah, it's a solid game and if you're looking for something different, worth picking up.

I've no interest in Battlefield for the console market, or single-player Battlefield on any platform, but I'm looking forward to Battlefield Heroes and the inevitable Battlefield 3.

As a fan of BF2, I think it works relatively well. The only problem is that you can only talk with squad members and those are randomly assigned.

Just finished the single player... god, that last level is annoying. You have what is basically a timed event with the bridge mission and the last part... yack.

Glad you all liked it! :)

I'm mostly a lurker here, primarily because I spent the last 4 years working on this very game ;)

But I do love anything sci-fi related so hope to be a bit more active now when the game is done. Though we still have tons to do.

See you on Xbox Live! (gamertag: repi)

^Okay my brother and I just had a gamergeekgasm to have one of of the guys from Dice here! Really like the game and I have to compliment you guys on the controls, most easily controlled FPS on a console I've played. I'm even able to hit people with the sniper rifle, something that I'm crap at in Halo. Haven't played any of the story yet, too busy having fun in multi, but I watched a bit of it when my brother played and like what I see so far. One thing we're not that happy about is no co-op in single or the ability to play multiple person online on the same console like in Halo, BUT I totally see how at least the latter could be a bit too tasking for the machine and also it was mainly just a nuisance in the beginning. Now I've realised that it's incredibly entertaining to watch another one play as well seeing as it plays like a great action movie. And to finish off this bit of flattery, I'm an aspiring filmmaker, my brother is an aspiring gamemaker and we both love what you guys have done with the game.

rType I totally get what you're saying, I'm a PC FPS guy myself mostly but as I said earlier, the controls are great, I have yet to find myself wanting a mouse and keyboard like I do in other console FPSes. I suggest trying it out if you have the chance. Have to agree with you that about Battlefield heroes though, looking forward to that as well.

Hey, nice to have a DICE employee here. :)
I don't know if you were a part of that Lego level building exercise that they showed in the Gold edition documentary, but who wouldn't want a job where they can build Lego maps and blow things up?

Congrats on the game launching. The reason I like the BF games is because the maps are large which makes the gameplay less twitch based (as opposed to CoD4, which is nade spam + P90 spray) and these maps fit the bill. You know, it almost makes me want to reinstall BF2. :D

Oh, I'm sure you guys know about the cheat on Oasis where people are flipping over humvees on purpose in order to get thousands of repair points? I hope you guys can do something about that soon.

^Oh yeah I saw an enemy do that today. So of course we knifed him

EDIT: btw repi, I love the wordjoke with the name of the knife.

I just saw someone get 10k points in a match, but it wasn't Oasis. There must be more glitches out there.

repi, when you folks start working on the next PC version of Battlefields, I don't suppose you plan on incorporating the ability to blow nearly everything up into that, are you? I'm reading about this, and it almost makes me want to get a console just so I can get Bad Company and blow crap up!

I think the big problem with procedurally generated destruction is that it'll be very process intensive. The buildings kind of have a set number of walls that blow up before the building just becomes invincible. Although, I suppose levelling entire buildings would basically ruin some of those gold rush maps.

Also, god, those boosters are just a pain in the ass. Maybe, MAYBE, you can legitimately get 1000 points in a round. But honestly, anyone with a round with more than that should have their stats wiped or, even better, have their points start at negative their current number.
Unlike other games, you can tell who is cheated by the fact that they have a million repair points but zero kills.
That said, I'm just playing Oasis now and concentrating on killing these guys, no matter what side I'm on.
